United Kingdom 2014 Range Rover Vogue TDV6 Fuji White

I tried booking in but I struggled to get a slot due to how busy they were and the fact they had no courtesy cars available, at this point I was back at work after being furloughed in March due to being asthmatic. I would have booked in earlier during lockdown however I was self isolating throughout my furlough due to my breathing condition.

MA have stated they aren’t willing to entertain any leniency due to COVID.

Hi Mikey,

Which warranty is this? And what’s their reasoning behind the argument?

RAC Warranty

Platinum Plus cover

Bit of back and forward over allowed labour times. They said 10.9hrs to replace a stripped engine, according to Autodata

Despite sending them screenshots of JLR RTS, they still wouldn't accept book time of 17.0 hrs, and settled on 16... Rolling Eyes

Authorised in full, except an AC regas Thumbs Up

Though again, it was all down to the wording of the claim and engineers report Wink Whistle

At least Mikey, your example proves that problems like that can be covered by a decent warranty.

Poor design.

No locating tabs on the bearing. So the bearing spins closing off the oilways. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Definitely not a poor design. Warranty company will likely reject it as a "design issue" as per the LRA Warranty Whistle

The cause of failure is bearing rotation causing oil starvation to the bearings. Nothing else Thumbs Up Laughing

Same happened to my TDV6 at the start of last year...

We need to put it into perspective that the likelihood is low compared to the thousands of cars on the road. But when it happens to you, it isn't a nice place to be.

Note that later 3.0 engines have tabbed bearings. Kev

I'm not sure to be honest Mike. I know someone over on the Disco forum modified his journals to accept the new tabbed bearings though. Apparently it was a fairly easy mod to make so may be worth doing if the opportunity presents itself. Kev
