Going back to the factory set up, It's staggering how unbreakable the original system seems to be...

Many skilled folk have tried unsuccessfully to hack to update the maps on the HDD.

Anyway, I do wonder how the factory system can be added to without splicing and piggy back plugs..

Mine has surround cameras, the menu comes up on the right had column on the home menu.
That alone, for those without surround cameras, should be a spare input you'd think.

And with this system on all LR vehicles of this era, plug Jags too there must be a huge market for a more plug in upgrade... Even a way upgrade the maps, let alone carplay.

. Cheers, Greg

United States

Hi and thanks for the very helpful discussion.

Could someone share the installation document so other members have an idea of how much skill/time is involved in the DYI?

Does anyone have an idea if they ship to the US? I contacted then a couple days ago but have not heard so far.

Would be interested in a group buy/discount as well.

Thanks,

Here’s a link to the Naviplus installation manual for those who want to take a look. Certainly not a 5 minute job but doable if you have the inclination. 2011 TDV8 4.4 Vogue SE in Galway Green with Black leather

I've had my Naviplus installed for about 18 months and am still very impressed with both wired and wireless apple CarPlay (I've not tried Android so can't comment on that). I especially like that it is fully touchscreen enabled unlike other alternatives that use a joystick.

100% recommend it and feel free to PM me put you in touch with the contact I have and he can offer you a discount.

Just a few observations:

* Current kits do NOT require any splicing or cutting or anything. They are full plug and play kits.
* The PDF linked above is for a single display, the dual display unit looks a little bit different.
* It really isn't hard to do, the only things to remember is that a pointed tool makes life so much easier to get the air vents out Smile And you really want to tug hard on those side dash covers, or use an interior tool kit.
* The rest is easy, well apart from me having no clue on how to remove one of the plugs from the head unit not even on the third time I done this procedure.

Wireless Apple CarPlay is just so nice. Android Auto works in the same way, it just is Censored compared to Apple and years and year behind in its UI....

All other functions of the car operate normally, nothing changes.

Are you saying that an updated Naviplus is now supplied that does not require opening up of the head unit, merely plugging and unplugging connectors ??

Still need opening the head unit; only 8 screws plus the screws of the brackets. Then simply disconnect the two connectors and insert the bypass/overlay connectors, and screw it back together. It will take you longer to take the opportunity to clear the screen and remove that patchy coating from it Smile

Not scary, no soldering or cutting required.

I bought one believing that it was plug and play installation, and that I would be able to cope with the job, but when it arrived I studied the installation instructions and realised just how much work was involved to fit it.
At the same time we had decided to move house and I had to concentrate all my time on sorting out the move so I sold it to a forum member who was more able to fit it.
I still like the idea of CarPlay working on the original screen, but have accepted that Installation of a Naviplus is way beyond me at my age, so settled for the Intellidash as a good easy fix.

If anyone was advertising a supply and fit service for Naviplus I would definitely jump at it.

I think intellidash is expensive compared to just have a phone holder and a bovee.

I appreciate naviplus may be daunting, but seriously anyone who can operate a screwdriver can do it. The dash removal of the L322 was one of the easiest ever to get to the head unit.

Third time I had to do it, as the wrong part was delivered originally, I did it in a morning.
