Just remember that the D3 and RRS RAI from Land Rover isn't a snorkel................... they don't have any waterproof seals on them like the ones from LR for Defenders or the Safari ones so you still cannot go into water deeper than 500mm, I'm not sure about this but I think in addition to waterproofing the RAI where it penetrates both the inner and outer wing to allow proper deep water wading you will also still need to extend the breathers a fair bit too. I can also recommend a visit to www.wetroads.co.uk if you fancy trying out some of the fords on the Plain. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Thanks Tim its more to complete the G4 replica (in black) than deep water wading as I don't want soggy carpets Laughing

I got a used LR RAI (with kit) from a D3 member for £75.... going to silicone it on Whistle

My 90 has a snorkel and extended breather pipes............................ but the door seals and the vents for the battery box under the front passenger seat still let the water into the cabin........ and let it drain out too! and the battery box is lower than the intake on the wing - great British design, you drown but the engine doesn't! And just to remind you not to get too carried away there are the "air conditioning" flaps under the front screen to dump a load of icy water into the cabin too (I have forgotten those in the passed tto when going for the submarine effect!). 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Due to not wanting LR spots I have had an idea Idea to have two lightforce (or similar) driving lamps cut into the front bumper where the factory spots would usually go.....

It would be a proper job and look factory.

Bit like the massive fogs on an older Aston Vantage! (See below)

Opinions appreciated Question

Could be a bit vulnerable to broken lenses from gravel/stones and low hanging branches whacking back from the car infront unless you can get an outer 2nd layer of polycarbonate over the recess to give some extra protection 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I have now fitted the LR RAI to the G4 Black using no bolts or holes drilled in bodywork.

Seems to be VERY secure using upper bolts, metals lower clips and waterproof silicone. Its firm to the "pull" but the test will be after driving a few hundred miles!

Tong Off Road near Leeds

I learnt more about offroad driving in 5 hours than in the last 30 years!

G4 Black has no RAI, a few scratches and a chipped alloy but I think she had a great day too.

Racing up and down Suicide Hill was the equivelent adrelanine rush as first time skiing down a fast black run - fantastic fun Very Happy Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
