As a project/fun car I would quite like one of these (or to create a cheapish replica):

And the very few FFRR's from the 1st G4 Challenge were offered for sale by Land Rover at more than £80k a piece originally - I was told that none of them sold and they all went into the crusher, so any L322 from then will be a replica if that is true. I think it was 2002 when I first met Thrasher on the Mud Club stand and there was a G4 L322 on their stand and I remember the owner saying then that he had had to build it from bits rescued from skips! If you want a really rare TDv8 G4 car then IIRC only 5 or 6 TDv8 RRS were built for the last (cancelled) G4 I'm not sure if any TDv8 FFRR's were built for that G4. When RRSport.co.uk had their big meet up at the Ace Cafe James was able to get hold a fully kitted out G4 TDv6 RRS for the day - it sat on the traffic island outside their showroom and didn't come to the Cafe with us I'm sure it would have been the centre of attraction had it come along. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

Why would they crush cars priced at £80k - why not just sell them at a sensible price?

how about a camel trophy defender or disco gaz? looks much more hardcore off road than an orange range rover with some plastic stuck on it. IMHO of course.. 2004 black Vogue TD6 |

Creating a replica would not be that expensive - aside from the paint - or difficult - possibly aside from the front skid pate. I've read conflicting reports about whether or not Mantec is still making these. AFAIK you'd have to inquire through Terrafirma (Allmakes). There was a used skid plate for the 06> RR on ebay about 4-5 months ago. I missed it but it sold for some ridiculously little sum (GBP75 ?).

Seems like a great idea. Would love a kitted up D3 or FFRR, can't see the picture you posted though Gaz, not sure if you deleted it? |
