Greg, Rovertune specifically checked for those O ring leaks at turbo end of pipe for me. Unfortunately the turbo leak was from the main turbo Big Cry
My advice would be to run it out to them in Reading one day for a diagnosis. They might have their customer office area open upstairs by now Thumbs Up

FYI.
If anyone is after an aftermarket Oil Cooler for a 4.4 TDV8 in the UK, Malting Off Road near Doncaster do aftermarket ones for £162 Inc Vat. Comes with the bottom gasket and a new oils filter and cap. Great guys to deal with, they also have a service/repairs garage aswell. Not just a parts seller. 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8

If you have the TDV8 4.4 diesel, they are the same as far as I know. The part number for the L322 is LR022895. They said the fit these 90% of the time and never had a return or an issue. 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8

Thanks for this - I have the oil weep on a 2012 TDV8. Just wondering whether it’s best to fit this whole unit - or just the new gaskets back onto to the original parts? Does it make fitting that much easier to change out the whole thing? Matt

The gasket change is easy enough. A few more bolts to undo. You have an extra surface to clean. Not much extra work and it's only simple. Easy to do once you have the oil cooler out. One piece of advice, be careful when you put the pipe with the two O rings back in. I cracked the cast aluminium part that the pipe goes into. Hence the new oil cooler. Also, there's a coolant pipe that runs from a fitting the the donut shaped air intake pipes and goes to a rubber hose at the front of the vehicle. The fitting that Recieved the small stuff pipe into the large rubber pipe is VERY brittle. It's £80 for a new part so be careful. Don't ask me how I found it was brittle. Sigh. 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8

So can anyone confirm if the 8.73/1.78mm viton O rings fit without leaks????

I'm about to order a pair and dont know whether to go for 9x1.8mm or 8.73x1.78mm

Lots of people fit the smaller ones and get on ok with no leaks. If I was you, I would get the slightly larger ones. They will still fit ok. Just lube them well and take care sliding them in nice and straight. The difference between the 2 you mention is very small. 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8

Phase 1 is complete following mm289's guide. i.e. i have the intake manifold off. Rain stopped play but i'm hopeful it will pass,

So far i have a couple of questions for you much more experienced owners.

Is it normal to see some oil around when i took the air intake hose off?

Also I had a look in the coolant tank to see if there was any oil to bee seen but the level seems really low. should i see a max line on the tank?

My leak had become worse and the oil level is saying add 1.5 litres i'm hoping I dont find anything more terminal as i continue to replace the gaskets/o rings.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Hello,
My airtake Dohnut shaped pipe work has thick gunky oil deposits. Naturally I cleaned most of that off. Don't worry about the low coolant unless it's using a lot. If a seal has gone you may loose a little through that. Leaks never get better, only worse so don't worry. O rings and gaskets usually cure the problem. When you're putting the cooler back on, make sure you tighten the bolts nice and evenly, working opposite bolts in turn like wheels studs. Take care when putting the pipe with the o rings back in. Cast aluminium isn't very strong. Also watch the coolant pipe at the front as I mentioned earlier. 2012 L322 4.4 TDV8
