Replacement base engine parts have in the past been hard to find. IIRC a few years back it wasn’t easy to get hands on new heads or blocks.

On long drives at 70-80mph seems to sit on 1500 revs ,, Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc He who dies with the most toys wins... |

I think both choices are wrong the 3.0 TD6 is clearly the best of the bunch . |

I had a 300 TDI Soft dash in about 2006, so slow it makes a TD6 look speedy but bags of character, wish I’d never gotten rid of it, they’re worth a fortune now!. |

I'm not surprised, I'd love another RRC, such a rare sight these days unfortunately. |

[quote="mjdronfield"]The initial point doesn’t stand, the 3.6 could let go at any time without warning and then you will be left with a very expensive paper weight.

Seeing as this thread has been revived and I hope Dr Rob reads this, can you tell me what symptoms you had which meant you had to have a new turbo please? Thanks Kev. |

Good point JayGee, that's one of the conclusions that came from my thread discussing 4.4 reliability. It was noted that nearly all the 4.4TDV8 engine failures have been in L405's.
