So, looks like secondary turbo (nearside) is leaking which is dripping on front diff AND oil pump "plugs" which is leaking onto front face of sump area. Had it diagnosed at two separate independent specialists over last two weeks. All fixable but your reserve pot better be healthy Rolling with laughter ....selling is not an option. 4.4 TDV8 brute or a 2 litre Ingenium Disco Sport down payment. I did wonder about that turbo. It's just so hard to get to so I've not been able to see a source.

And if it is leaking there, what is the culprit exactly?
Oil feed pipe? That has an o-ring - given the upper o-ring is a common leak, would not surprise me if other o-rings along the oil lines need replacement.

Also gets me thinking about the drain mod and whether excess oil is building up (mine has not had the drain mod.)

Has yours had the drain mod done? Cheers, Greg

I'm not 100% if it has or not. I don't think so but going to have it confirmed. I boot it regularly and never had a smoke screen. Indy who is fixing does not carry out turbo drain mod. They are not prepared to drill into a block Wink Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

If you have any pictures of that zone I can tell you.

It's the sump drilled btw.

. Cheers, Greg

I still have an oil leak at the front of my engine too. Its not bad enough that it drips on the drive, but is definitely leaking slightly.
I do wonder if it is the plug nino has mentioned in my case. All the hoses and pipes across the front of the sump are covered, as is the sump (I think this is just the fan blowing it about)
I've been running with the undertray removed so I could more easily see if it was dripping on the drive, but get no spots.

DrRob, I will be interested to hear how the guys at Haslemere get on with yours as they aren't that far from me. Too many toys, not enough time

I’m using Rovertune. Give Rob there a call and get his lads to look at it. He’ll drop you at the station too Thumbs Up
Will post more details once work is complete.
Rovertune won’t do turbo drain mod. I might start a new a thread on where it can be done and prices around the country. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Front leak was from the oil pump and rear leak was from the secondary turbo.
Turbo replaced and oil pump leaks cured.
Can’t recommend Rob at Rovertune highly enough Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

John, I bet an old tyre that your front leak will be an oil pump plug like mine and Ninos. It’s a tricky thing to get to but Rovertune did mine same time as the turbo. They see a few of these leaks so Phil the mechanic knows his way around it. I also took the opportunity to have all the front belt idlers done and new belts fitted to cure my cold start squeak Thumbs Up

Thanks Rob, I think it will be that too.

I had intended to wash the front of the engine at the weekend before doing an oil change, but other stuff got in the way, maybe next weekend Embarassed Wink

Slightly off topic but any recommendations as to best degreasers to use (gunk ? Jizzer ?) Too many toys, not enough time
