Bit of an update guys, yesterday I got an additional code:
P006A-00 (27) in addition to the original P1247-00 (27) So back to the workshop manual which says: P1247-00 = Turbocharger Boost Pressure Low - No sub type information = Turbocharger actuator jammed = a) If this DTC is logged with P00BC-00, suspect compressor recirculation valve (CRV) stuck open. If this DTC is logged with P00BE-00, suspect boost air solenoid (CSOV) stuck closed b) Check Turbocharger actuator jammed. Check and install Turbocharger actuator. Refer to the Warranty Policy and Procedures manual, or determine if any prior approval programme is in operation, prior to the installation of a new module/component Action plan: Could be a donut hose, although I've not got any obvious signs. I do have the older hoses so I'll look at swappng those. First I want do a smoke test and just test the lot. So I've ordered a smoke test machine, which will also test the vacuum lines. This way I can check donut hoses, general connections, and inlet manifold. Right? (I think so - as long as I open the throttle body?) Plus it's not just from a boost leak POV (1247-00 code, low boost) I can also check the vacuum lines, which are of particular interest because of the operation of the change over valve. On the CSOV, although I can feel back and forth movement in the rod, I plan to remove the valve and check and clean it. If it's gunked inside it could have a slight flap leak. I'll separately test the vacuum actuator operation. Then, speaking of flap leakage and gunk, I'll whip off the throttle body and clean and check that too. And, thanks to Nino I'll also be checking the turbo actuator arm, didn't get a chance this weekend. Although I am hearing several loud clicks just as the starter motor fires. Not sure as Nino you were saying that should be on ignition on. Please let me know any thoughts, I'll most likely have to wait till the weekend to execute the action plan so time to chat! . Cheers, Greg - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 2011 Vogue SE 4.4 with lots of toys in Stornaway |

proof if it were needed of the North/South divide - this is my smoke tester, us impoverished Northerners can't afford to buy luxuries like a smoke leak detector.

Ok I did further smoke tests, CSOV and pretty confident it was the loose intercooler to throttle body pipe as mentioned earlier.

Old thread I know, but it's helped me! Same symptoms, I opened the bonnet with dread this morning.
