Visited a friend today with a compressor and we made up a boost pressure tester out of some pvc caps and an airline fitting.

Tested the system up to 20 psi and absolutely no leaks to speak of.

So no leaks with the smoke test and none with a pressure test.

I feel we have been over it all and I have done all I can do short of removing the remap or replacing the n/s turbocharger.

Now on the lookout for a replacement vehicle.

Having the EGR blanks remove and the PCM flashed back to standard would be a much cheaper option...

I dont think I understand what you feel that will achieve Mikey

One of my EGRs is no good and was the reason for blanking and mapping them out originally.

I then drove the car everyday for 1.5-2 months and no problems.

These symptoms appeared after the boost hose split and was replaced. Not after the egr blanking / remap.

I’m looking to buy a pair as I think mine have seen better days and might be struggling with the extra boost from the remap. They aren’t visibly torn or cracked but I think they may be porous or too soft and collapsing every now and again. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

From the sounds of it, it's the only thing to be eliminated before putting a new turbo on the car...

Is it possible you had a slight boost leak before the re map?

I mentioned before when my hose split I had no codes and didn’t notice any reduction in performance. My son heard a hissing, which I traced to a small split in passenger side air cooler outlet hose.

Maybe you had a small leak prior to the mapping, the big split caused the original fault code and now the new hose is causing issues as the new map was originally allowing for a boost leak.

Scratching the bottom of the barrel, I know 2007 3.6 TDV8

Well I dont believe it.. and neither will you guys.

I bought a facelift 3.6 autobiography to replace the problematic Westminster.

It's been a little over 6 months with this car, engine fine BUT ive just had it apart to replace a bad auxiliary belt tensioner and now its driving crap, all the same symptoms as my other one Banging Head how is this possible?

Only thing I can think of is I did have to remove those damn boost pipes.

So that little trick of removing the upper intercooler pipes and refitting works on this car too!

So something that's common to both cars:

Both have EGRs blanked (new one is not remapped though)

I removed and refitted the boost pipes on both which seems to have caused the problem on both.

Removing and refitting said pipes returns things to normal for a very short while.

Could the pipes not be sealing onto the intercooler or inlet manifold?

I had the Westminster smoke tested and this never showed any leaks but I don't know what pressure that was at.

Can't believe my luck.. should have gone for a supercharged

Have you tried either car WITHOUT the EGR blanks fitted?

Is it possible the new car has a split in a hose that may have been caused when you removed them? Previously a 2008MY Tonga Green Vogue SE 3.6 TDV8

Yes Mikey,

Both cars had no egr blanks when bought and were fine for months with blanks fitted.

I've blanked the EGRs on all diesels I've owned and never had anything but positive results. I understand not everybody believes in blanking but I am happy with it.

Possiblt wasting near £100 on new upper intercooler pipes tomorrow Nick just to test.

I can't be the only 3.6 owner in the world to have experienced this... on 2 cars!
