EGR Delete photos ( update +1300miles) more miles

Following the post by ptaroni I fitted the egr deletes purchased from eBay with a good picture guide and instructions
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=ht...2642302772
Any here's how I did
Raise the bonnet in workshop mode and get help to raise and secure it

Release the pollen filter housing two 13 mm nuts remove the engine cover first it's easier it should look like this

Next release these pipes and sure up and away using a cable tie then loosen off the wiring around the egr pipes I found it easier to pop them out of there mounts you should end up looking like this

Next loosen off the support bracket 4 bolts and push back
You can now see the egr pipes it is a bit tight
Remove the gauze sleeve and loosen the top two bolts and remove next using a small extension loosen the lower bolts
There should a metal gasket that's holds the bolts so I didn't remove them but lifted out the pipe complete
BE CAREFUL here remove the pipe make sure you get the o ring from the top
CAUTION here as I found bits of plastic piping from the harness had fell down make sure it's debris free before you remove
Now to refit using a magnet

Just like this lower plate first do not over tighten
It should look like these re place all the brackets wiring and check it's all secure

Tools I used sockets 10 mm 13 mm ,t30 tork players small sockets 9mm not much more than that

Some photos of the old and new bits

And then start the engine and no emi light

Only time will tell
Overall not hard but fiddley to do take your time took me about an hour and a half including coffee and cig breaks and the photo shoot
The kit comes with clear instructions but you'll need cable ties and use the new bolts which are Allen key style
Cheers henda Thumbs Up

Been out for a run
Ff seems quieter and more responsive a low revs won't know about fuel consumption until I've drove a few miles
So far no EML on dash so hopefully a quick easy fix
Thumbs Up

So there’s no EML with just the blanking and no EGR software delete?

As far as I can tell the egrs still work so may need a delete later but they are blanked off from the intake circuit
If you look at ptroni thread he's done a 1000 mile without problem
Thumbs Up

Just been out to start the FF in the cold morning air

So all good so far off work today so will go out for a bit of a test run today
Thumbs Up

Excellent write up and good news on the lack of EML. Have you read the codes to see if anything is throwm up at all that maybe wouldnt cause the eml to trigger? Also did you unplug the egrs from harness?? Thanks Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue

No every thing stays connected I already have a egr fault low voltage I think so one of them wasn't working properly,my plan is to get a ecu delete if need be
Going to run for a few days clear all fault codes , I had 4 codes on the injectors but after a 300+ run I only have 2 injector faults so hopefully with no carbon being being circulated it may cure my tolerance faults
As far as I can tell this delete is a mechanical delete to stop the recirculating exhaust gases returning to the engine and hopefully stop egr breakups destroying the turbos
Thumbs Up

Excellent so to reverse it in the future you just replace that pipe if needs be then too. Any noticable increase in mpg and running? Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue

Kbald , yes reversal is as you say just put the pipes back in , careful though as I destroyed the first one trying to pull it out before releasing the bottom but the gasket holds the bottom bolts so be careful when removing and you can replace at any time
Just been out and the car is definitely quieter
When stopping there is no hunting as you stop or pull away
There is no hesitation when pulling off and almost instant throttle response
Not sure yet but I think the rev jumping at around 1500 revs when cold has stopped or is very slight
Fuel consumption I can't tell yet is was around 30 ish after a run out last week and so far knocking around the doors it's at 28.5
Time will tell Thumbs Up

EGR modification/delete - Now an MOT FAIL !

Information below taken from MOT Testers Manual

You only need to check components that are visible and identifiable, such as diesel oxidation catalysts, diesel particulate filters, exhaust gas recirculation valves and selective catalytic reduction valves.

Emission control equipment fitted by the manufacturer missing, obviously modified or obviously defective = MAJOR Fail

Well maybe

"You only need to check components that are visible and identifiable"

Can you even see the missing pipes without removing the engine cover?

Failed in my van for this last MOT but the tester said if I replaced the pipe with something that blocked it in the middle he would not be able to tell so would pass it. Actually didn't do that - the only reason the pipe was partially missing was because it broke some time back and was an complete pig to change.. ended up putting a new pipe on and left it at that!

Also the E24 limit can be affected by EGR and if an excess amount is measured then also a fail regardless if you can “see” a modified EGR or not 2009 - L322 5.0 S/C Autobiography

Each car will be different but my last emissions test had me at just slightly above half of my limit. Unless removing the EGR doubles your emissions, or the tester can see through plastic, I can't see it being a problem.
