Egr delete done and not to hard tbh,make sure you take the pollen filter housing off though so you can get to the harness bracket rear bolts.Pipes were new last year with new egr valves and when checked quite oily and sootey so not good going back into the engine imo and now response is better and happy after a good run no engine issues or lights so worth doing

Hmmm ... interesting topic!

Can anyone confirm (or otherwise) whether the engines in question had had the EGRs mapped out, or whether they were in all other respects standard??? Regards,

my remap was 5 years ago by cam-tech and egrs weren't touched so were still in use and by looking at it in less than twelve months were quite mucky and dirty as both turbos and egrs and the pipes were brand new last September and three oil changes since so imo a job well done. _____________________________________________________

No mapping has been carried out on mine.... yet! 2004 td6 l322 - gone
Now 2007 tdv8 l322

I'm interested in doing this. My 3.6 TDV8 has fully functioning EGRs at present.

My worry is this. By blanking off the pipework but leaving the EGR valves in place, they will open and close as required so no EML or errors will arise, at first. However, I imagine over time, as there will be no 'flow' through the EGR valves, they will clog and fail. If the remap is done to stop them opening at all, this obviously wouldn't happen.

Any thoughts?

Hmmm ... so the re-map pretty much mapped them out? That'll explain the lack of warning lights, then ... Regards,

I reckon these pics hint at the benefits of no EGRs. Different vehicles, similar mid 200,000 km. One had operational EGRs the clean one (mine) not.

Hi all I have now decided to blank out my egr valves I have ordered the kit off eBay
My only issue is access there is a black cover which seems to be removed to access all bolts to remove egr bend
How is this removed and how many bolts is there - there is one cover on each side
I have included a photo we’re the cover goes from the eBay listing

Remove the rear pollen housing box by the 13mm nut either side of the bulkhead then lift out to get at the rear harness bolts then loads easier to lift out the way, I’m doing another one for a friend tomorrow. _____________________________________________________

Yes same engine—after a lot of research I thought it would be the best option for me car has 130000 miles didn’t want to spend all the money replacing them when I could blank them off — heard to many horror stories of egr valves falling and getting sucked up into the turbos and ruining an engine

My car was a bit rough in the morning until warm a bit of smoke until I reved it a bit and the fault was egr b control circuit low it never put eml light on
Just new it wasn’t running correctly for first 20 seconds after cold start

Hopefully when kit arrives tomorrow and is fitted all will be good

Egr delete kit arrived this morning from eBay
Kit was easy to install all came with detailed instructions

It’s like driving a different car first thing I noticed was the Rev counter from cold start was rock solid (previous hunting on cold start until engine had warmed a bit )
Engine considerably quieter
I drove 100 miles — from a standing start she is a lot quicker more responsive
Also when driving and I put the boot down she flys reduced turbo lag before there was a split second then she would go

Over all I am pleased to the moon also no engine warming light has displayed if this is a problem in the future then I will get the egr software removed
I have now reset the mpg so I can see if it will increase
I think all 3.6 owners should consider this modification to protect there turbo
