England 2008 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Santorini Black

Replaced the Tailgate Arrester cables.

I'd noticed when I picked her up that the left one was only attached at the bottom, and that the top had rusted away and snapped. Ordered two new ones, and i'm glad i replaced both now. The right hand one was badly rusted too, and probably only 6 months away from failure. I had to cut the top of the rubber boot to expose the bolt head, as the swolen rusty mess had trapped the cover,

£34 for the pair from BSB Autoparts, a T40 Torx bit (removal) a 12mm socket (new one) and my trusty 3/8" Wrench, plus a dab of 3-in-1 oil later and she's all back to good order, with that big heavy tailgate securely retained again.

... and I fitted two new top tailgate struts so I no longer have to push it up by hand . I am also looking forward to not being cracked on the top of my head every couple of days ! Laughing

Watched her clock over her 70,000th mile on the M40.

I can't believe I've done just under 2,000 miles in her already.

Forgot to say ....
Bought a CTEK Polar charger, and a 13 pin plug to set up an overnight charging point to cosset the battery, - and after a glass to much red wine and spotting a bargin on the Romanian amazon - Emag - bought a new K5 Karcher to clean her, and make the yard more suitable for a car of such refined stature...

Hope my old TD5 sells soon - or it will get jealous in classic Stephen King style! Darnt get the clay bars out until its sold!! Series 2a LWB Hardtop - ex British Aerospace that was then used in an armed robbery! not by me!

Put the Transit jack to good use after putting a sharp stone through the tread block of the tyre, after driving through some tracks in the Victoria high country.

Last night Came home to wife saying " the car is saying check brake fluid, and they feel spongey " .... Shocked Shocked ... I look at the reservoir, its empty and I top it up.

" I'll get it in the morning " ... somehow thinking it'll magically fix itself ... Whistle Whistle

Cue the morning ... a few test drives and long heavy braking tests leads to it it fading and beginning to pull to the left ( i.e. suspect rear right caliper loss of pressure ) and a full loss of fluid from the reservoir in the space of 2 miles ... Rolling Eyes

On the driveway there is now a large puddle of brake fluid under the rear axle. I suspected that it would be the cross pipe ... but that confirms it. Big Cry Big Cry

Why does this sort of thing happen when its BLOODY FREEZIN to be lying on a driveway! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter V8 or else ...

Took the Fatty in for its French CT (MOT) which it sailed through so sorted for the next two years. Funny thing is I got a sidelight failure warning when I fired her up to drive away.
