Definitely originates from bleed screw loss which seems stable because let the car idle for about an hour in the garage this morning and nothing leaking then or since, as well as the fact that the heat from the engine dried up all of the remaining coolant residue that was sitting on engine bay components.

Right. Here's my DIY positive update after 2 days of irritation.

I'm declaring the cause of the coolant 'leak' as being due to the the expansion tank bleed screw. I do suspect it wasn't closed properly during recent garage works.

This afternoon, with the engine sufficiently cooled, I couldn't understand why the coolant expansion tank still looked like this and wouldn't settle/ drain the pink coolant back into the lower tank/ within the range fill markers:



As the tank and engine were cooled down, I removed the expansion tank fill cap. Still, the pink coolant remained as pictured above within the 'upper chambers' of the tank.

So - with tank fill cap still off - I also then removed the bleed screw and the pink coolant instantly drained away back down into the tank and settled properly as pictured below, showing that in fact, I've got slightly more coolant in the tank than the range fill parameters require. However, I don't think it's such an excessive amount as to be unduly concerned; and whilst I monitor the performance of the bleed screw over the coming days, that excess might actually serve me well:



I then, for now preferring PTFE Teflon plumbers tape to rubber o-rings, carefully wrapped some fresh PTFE tape around the bleed screw thread before re-inserting the bleed screw in the tank and closing it, careful not to overtighten.

Took the car for a spirited driving in sport mode up and down the motorway, got it at full operating temperature and the needle hasn't moved from approx 12 o'clock/ perfectly normal temperature. There are no warning messages and thus far, no leaks from the bleed screw or anywhere else!

Simple to you perhaps but a challenge to me Wink

I know the sis an old post but if your bleed screw has an `O ring then take it off and refit it reversed . They compress and taper over time . If not then new one or PTFE tape . O ring better fix though 2006 Thailand G4 Event Press Vehicle and still working hard

Or use gasket sealant or similar, that worked for me Wink .
