My rain sensor wipers also occasionally sweep the screen once on startup, but rarely work after that, I have to switch to the OFF position then back to rain sensing again. Gremlin in my view. Hoping you get it sorted. Confused .

Shocked No box behind the battery Shocked We are talking Range Rover L322 Vogue Full Fat, and not the L320 Sport?

Only I'd be surprised if they changed it for the last few years of production, as this relay was used in the whole production run from 2002 to 2009. I don't have any knowledge of the later L322, but I'm sure that Craig or another will enlighten us Thumbs Up

It sounds to me as if you've changed the washer relays and not the wiper one, as the fault that your reporting is a classic dud relay symptom. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Thanks for your reply.

Yes Full Fat one - big boy one Smile

I though the same as you after reading all the info below in the posts. To the point I went and purchased the new brown relay and look the battery out to replace it - big lift Wink. once i had removed the battery there was no panel to remove and i could not find the relay location any where there (checked the pictures that have been posted on this page to cross check and nope not the same).

Spend ages looking for where the relay would have been relocated wasn't in hand book and found it under bonnet drivers side (RHD). what found it/there they where replaced with a revised version smaller and two of them. I then phoned Land Rover and asked about issue they where no help and said they also where unable to supply me the relay (just bring the car in........).

Phone Keith Gott Land Rover and they had the Relays I needed. get them replaced them and again hummmm no go.

I have booked the car in for next week Thursday 14h as soonest i could get a Land Rover specialist to see it but can use it till then as all this rain - love to fix it my self too.

thanks again all

It sounds like you phoned the service dept. You're often better phoning the parts dept. The parts dept job is to sell parts and they don't really care who to, the service dept's job is to sell workshop time - though some are more helpful than others.
If it's a common failure item, you'll often find the parts guy knows the part number from memory.

Right, there is not a panel, it's a black box with a clip on lid, that comes off towards the space that the battery takes up.

Removing the battery, not too bad if the bonnet / hood (if your the wrong side of the pond) is in the service position.

To do this you need to lift the small metal clip on the cap of the gas strut that supports the bonnet and pop it off, then do the same again, either propping the bonnet or getting a helper, otherwise you may get a headache Shocked Lift the bonnet vertical and secure with the metal tab that is on the hinge, it slides a bit and you can pop it over the stud on the other part of the hinge.

Also put the car into low / access height, every inch counts Thumbs Up

But before I did any of that I would talk to the local L/R parts department and check that the relay is the correct one Thumbs Up

FYI the relay is under the windscreen behind the battery, not underneath the battery Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Thank you I will try this again.

One quick question - what are the two front wiper relays for in the relay/fuse compartments under the bonnet?

Surely there are not three of them?

I do wonder if their was a change made in the 2010 last face lift model?

I would talk to L/R parts, as they might have changed the setup, I can't see why they would, but it might be that they used the last few years of production as cross over builds and that they have more in common with the L405 than the L322 Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Shocked Where exactly is your battery? is it in front of you (driver) or the passenger? Only all the ffrr's 2002-2009 have the same relay listed, so they should be in the same place..... Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

The brake servo and wiper motor is behind the driver , the battery is on the other side .

I had a quick look at the drivers side for soundproofing but kind of got dismayed at the servo and all that stuff in my way Laughing and I didn't notice any relays in there .

I'll take a closer look later when she gets home in it .
If not tomorrow .

But I suspect mine too is in the engine fuse box compartment ....

Another discrepancy I noticed is that I don't have a battery+ terminal in the engine compartment either .
Though I have the - post .

Well your looking for a box that's 6"-7" High and 9"-10" wide, on the RHD cars it sits vertically behind the battery, on the right hand side of the car viewed from the grill looking at the windscreen, so it still might be on the drivers side, failing that it's behind the battery looking like part of the firewall Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... The brake servo is on the drivers side , so there won't be a remove able panel behind that !!!

I'll go take a look on the passenger side but considering the wiring loom is totally different on a car with all the controls on a different side , I don't think it's too far fetched to believe it's in a totally different position even if the part numbers are the same .

Just like the steering wheel might be the same part number , but it sits on the left hand side of the vehicle in my car Laughing

Here are a few pics .
It's dark , so please excuse the quality .
I can take more tomorrow if needed .

Here is the drivers side .
You can see it's pretty well packed with the servo and wiper motor and linkage assembly .

It's hard to tell from the photos , but factory sound deadening carpet is booted on to the bulkhead .
I need to remove this to add extra sound deadening to the bulkhead before bolting the carpet back on ,

And here's a really bad pic of the same area on the passenger side , behind the battery .
This side to has factory carpet bolted direct to the metal bulkhead .
But on this side it was easy enough to remove the battery , battery tray , and carpet , then add sound deadening to the metal bulkhead before bolting it all back together
