***another update***
Monday morning (this morning) car started no problem, bare in mind it was last started Sunday at 2pm for a short drive home so almost 18 hrs had past.

Had the new battery fited this morning and all is well.
I have now added the fuse back into the car but actually removed the sat nav unit completely as that fuse also runs the on board screen in the dash.

Now it's just a matter of time and just need to wait. If the battery dies then I haven't found the problem if it stays alive then it could have been a dud sat nav or dud battery.

Watch this space......

***update***
Good Morning.

So its been 5 days since the new battery went in and the Sat Nav unit has been removed and so far so good!

this week the FF has had early morning starts at about 6am and the normal stop/start trips to work and home and shes running good.

All i can hope is i have solved the problem, either the battery was weak, damaged or not powerfully enough or maybe the sat nav was the problem.

The battery i had installed was a Lucas battery, Capacity 110Ah and CCA 920a

Well the guy at Bennington 4 by 4 said that's the battery he recommends due to the size of the car.

After looking at replacing the Sat Nav, i have decided to leave the car version and purchase a Tom Tom.

the price of a replacement unit and a C.D to upgrade the maps is more than a Tom Tom so doesn't make sense. Specialty when most of the Tom Tom's these days are flat and small so can by placed by the speedo or just on the window.

You forgot a Tomtom's best party trick....... you can plug it in to your computer and UPGRADE the maps Shocked

I have also discovered that if your Tomtom goes fubar, it doesn't take out the whole car's electrics either... that's got to be a ++ situation Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

With so many people reporting battery problems and non-starting, is there an underlying problem? Or is it like the mysterious D3 air suspension: some drive to the moon and back and never have a problem, whilst others have nothing but grief.

"Just one of those things"

It's not so much battery problems, rather it's electrical faults that are draining the battery, and would appear that the later ffrr's have caught up with the earlier BMW ones Shocked I personally am beginning to wonder if I haven't got the better built car, yes it's got its' electrical faults, but they don't seam to render the car useless over night Shocked Me thinks that Ford went on a cost cutting operation when they took over Sad Like the quality of the sound deadening in the tailgate, or should that be what deadening in the tailgate. And then there is the Tin Worm problem that a lot of newer cars are reporting Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I went through this last year but never completely got to the bottom of it. It's been fine all year but has let me down twice this week already now it's gone cold. I think mine is due to the short 3 mile journey to and from work with lights, heaters etc on and the battery is not holding quite enough charge due to being drained several times. I now keep heavy duty jump leads, cteck charger and extension lead in the boot Shocked

Even though it has been tested ok it's Time for a new battery methinks. Sad

You either need to move further away from work, get another job, or take the poor old bus for a slightly longer journey every now and then Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I hardly use my truck. I only work a mile from home so generally walk (unless it's raining, then I use the wifes petrol car). Meaning that I put about £30 of diesel a month in the fattie. And I only put this much in cos every week or so I make a special journey up and down a few junctions of motorway just to try and stop the battery getting knackered.

I've even had a thought of selling the old girl cos it seems such a shame to leave it sat on the drive. Big Cry

I do try to go the long way home but if I work late, which is quite often, I tend to forget and autopilot home Rolling Eyes

I don't get out of the office as much these days either which doesn't help.

The majority of problems will be masked by a new battery. The RR is one big teenage kid that cannot turn the lights off. I nearly sent myself mad trying to eradicate standby current drain. I guarantee most RR just get by because they are used regularly Thumbs Up
