Today I finally got around to tackling the rear wash-wipe non return valve. The trim came off easily enough (thought it certainly looks as though it's been off before, unless LR use bits of duct tape to hold whatever the cadette-tape shaped box of electrics is under there in situ. The complete lack of water in the pipework pointed to the valve being at fault, sadly though the new valve doesn't appear to have made any difference, as a good 2-3 minutes of triggering the wash motor didn't put any water through the nozzle. Maybe I just need to keep trying, but the loud buzzing noise the motor made in the engine bay would suggest it is maybe airlocked? Stuff taking my front end apart to find out though.

The nozzle in the back is blocked. It is integrated into the black plastic cover piece that is over the wiper arm nut. This is also very easy to test, before you start tearing front end apart. Pull the cover off -> test -> observe 3m arc of washer fluid spraying through the hollow wiper arm axle.
Edit: right.. actually I think rear spoiler has to come off for this. Anyway, still fairly easy.

Frightened myself!

Made the silly mistake of keeping up with a sport sc: got to silly speed and a lorry driver pulled out behind a slow car doing 50mph (needless to say the lorry was doing 51mph), without indicating, and I had a very short distance to make sure I didn't rear end him.
Don't think I'll be doing that again in a hurry, was actually shaking after. Mind you, pleased with the beast though - it was no slouch, and even with 136k on the clock can still turn a good heal.

Never had a speeding fine in 37 years, could have lost my licence today (and more if the brakes hadn't been so good). Twit!!

Point of post: don't be stupid like me, could end up worse off. Sad Current: 2004 Vogue 4.4 V8 - 2004 Discovery 2

New brake pads all round, winter wheels and tyres on, and a bonus: warranty replacement high-level brake light (all from Harwoods in Edenbridge, who returned it despite me not having managed to speak to them for payment yet - impressive service, imho).

I refined the loose trim at the front, it just needed clipping back up, nice and easy.

I also cleaned the blocked nozzles an the rear wash wipe, again an easy fix Very Happy

Finally I removed the headlamp and dried it out to remove the condensation. I think when I have been driving through the floodwaters water has been directed upwards by the loose trim underneath. Hopefully that won't happen again.
