Thanks chaps...

Mike, had both in the past, I know plasma is supposed to be a better bet but personally I don't like it, it doesn't last long, it's not UV stable no matter what they claim and it jams on the drum easily as it pulls through the layers... I can see it's appeal if your doing challenge events but IMHO for every day laning wire rope is far more suitable...

There have also been several cases of anti's cutting up peoples plasma rope... bit difficult with a wire one.... Thumbs Up

Stan, sad, but I really like the early grille and lights, to me it just looks right for an FF so I'll keep this one, you don't generally get too much in the grille so it should be OK... Thumbs Up

Sam, don't think we would sell many, we worked out they would be about £750 each to make as they would have to be custom fit unless you got orders for loads and could go to the expense of making jigs for them...

Paul, please!!! that bumper looks awful... just flat plate and a daft "A" bar Pete

Great to see some serious stuff being done! Finally!

I am presuming there is no issue with Air bag compliance over there? That is what is hindering my efforts here down under Sad

Chaybra , No, no silly airbag stuff here, can't see a front bumper can make any difference to a decelerometer that isn't fixed anywhere near it anyway...!!!

Paul, you should get out more....!!! Pete

Pete,

Any chance you took some more piccies of the front bumper internals? I'm toying with building a winch mount myself but think I might get away with concealing it behind the plastic bumper... It'll be tight be looks feasible.

If you don't then no worries. Ed

Should be enough room, my new bumper doesn't protrude forward any further than the original, just replace the metal under bumper (for want of a better word) with a fabricated box section to house the winch, if you remove the aircon rad it would give you a bit more room... lower bumper skin mounts could still be used, you'd have to fabricate some different top mounts for the skin but it shouldn't be too hard... you would have to cut out the rear of the bumper skin but it looks doable, you might lose the central two PDC sensors...

Do you want pictures of the original bumper internals or the new one?? Pete

The new one ideally - I'm just after ideas more than anything else, I'm familiar with the structure behind the bumper. The challenge, which I've accepted, is to leave things as functional as they were before. The winch I have (TDS Goldfish) looks like once the solenoids are relocated will bit between the PDC sensors. Similarly looks like there might be just enough room to fit it infront of the air-con radiator...

I'm also curious from all the tales of your de-silenced exhaust what it sounds like now Thumbs Up Ed

Don't under any circumstances remove the back box, it is ridiculously loud, makes your ears bleed, children run away screaming, car alarms go off.... etc etc it really is far too loud to leave like it is I have several ideas to reduce the noise to an acceptable level...

But it does sound wonderful, rather like an American NASCAR...

Haven't really got an other pics of the bumper, the pics on page 2 give the best idea, the front of the bumper is welded to the front of the winch tray and the top goes just under the headlights... not really much else to see..

That set up on page 2 would fit behind the original bumper but you would have to fix the bumper some different way and remove a lot of the foam and plastic from the back of it...

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Pete
