It could be a faulty park switch in your wiper motor. Similar thing happened to mine and I had to replace the motor. Fairly simple DIY. You also have the wiper relay behind the battery, try to replace it first in case this is broken.

Do you need a diagnostic tool to do a hard battery reset or can it be done without tools (from the menu on the dashboard screen)?

No Daniel... Open your bonnet sir, take keys out of car and close door... Go and have a cup of coffee for at least 5mins, i suggest 10mins... Without opening any doors! Go straight to the battery and remove the earth lead (brown wire)...

I had the same issue shortly after purchasing my '04 and it ended up being a faulty motor. As previously mentioned - it's an easy DIY. I bought a used motor off ebay and it's still going strong 2 yrs later. 2004 RR Westminster 4.4 V8

Thanks for that! I've not tried it yet but will later. Hope that will work, would be better (and cheaper) than replacing parts. Daniel |

Might be way off, but had that on my E type all 3 wipers parked standing up and turned out to be the mass/ earth contact on the wipermotor, but then again I am not a tech |

my wiper mechanism slipped on the motor shaft once when they triggered after a huge lump of snow slid down the windscreen - they were doing the same as yours, going past home position and stopping few inches up the screen.

Tried a few things but in the end the problem was solved by replacing the wiper motor.
