OK Found his REG his is a 2007 Vogue SE but from a limited pic in his Gallery he appears to hav the Standard Non AB seats/etc but would need to see better pictures.

The change appears to be in 2008 when an AB version of the 4.2 SC became available. (as per previous post)

However its quite possible that post 2008 both AB & Vogue SE Supercharged got the new seats etc I simply have not seen it as they seem to be quite rare. Smile

(Every 2008 REG SC Vogue SE on AT has the older interior, no 2009 REG for sale)

There was a recent forum post where someone highlighted a 2009 SC for sale at £25k with 80k miles.

So if someone had a nice 4.2SC with approx 80k miles and a history such that they knew their 4.2 well, would £10k and beyond really be 'worth it' for a car with the same mileage, that is only marginally newer (albeit with newer technology & subtly newer cosmetics); and which, arguably, still has said 'dated' design?

It is very difficult to place yourself in someone elses position and decide whether it is worth x, y, z money for an upgrade on a car, FFRR or other top end vehicle. Cars are for a big part bought on emotion (for some people a small part for other very big) and that is what makes it difficult IMHO.

Whether the 5.0 is a little or much better than the 4.2 and whether that is worth the extra money can only be determined by Sandyt and I'm not sure whether we are helping. It is the same as the discussion SC/TDV8, for some people the one makes more sense for others the other.

I can not look into your wallet and heart which one makes more sense to you, I just am VERY happy with my 5.0 as it is way better than my 2006 4.2 (NAS version as well) and that is also because it doesn't have tinted windows and dark seats but mostly because it is a much better car in MY opinion and worth it to ME. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

It was only intended as a thought provoking question for this interesting debate Eugene. Thumbs Up

Sandy's OP isn't actually worded to being restricted to wanting to hear from 5.0 members and it's obvious from many recent threads that the 5.0 is now a very desirable car to existing diesel and petrol drivers, subject to budget and the heart v head debates that people often have when making a more expensive purchase.

The thread already reads from one of his later posts like Sandy will sooner or later be getting a 5.0, a la RRUK's previous 'matter of time' post; and as all of you 5.0 enthusiasts testify, nobody seems to have a bad word about them thumbsup:

Not too many bad words from any of you about the 4.2 either, which is nice Wink

Thumbs Up

Geoff, just see it as doing your bit for the environment and not sending those horrible diesel exhaust fumes into the atmosphere. Instead we have pure clean petrol exhaust going out of our tailpipes, smelling of roses and lillies Smile Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

And we are supporting those lovely people at the oil companies in this terrible time of low prices that must be hurting them and potentially sending thousands of people into unemployment. And lets not forget all those people we keep working on combatting climate change, raising the water defences, dredging rivers.

The governments should be handing out commendations to us, selfless petrol guzzling heroes, putting our hard earned money into the economy and state coffers Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

The thing is, I like the 5.0, and I like the 4.2. But which is better?

....only one way to find out!

Just returned from one of my now much more frequent trips to the filling station.
I think both must be good (although I haven't driven a 4.2).

Just for accuracy these are the independent dealer values for 80,000 miles cars - from our system :

A) 2009/09 4.2 SC AB £20419
B) 2009/09 5.0 SC AB £24410

Ours isn't a sought after AB, just a pampered and dated VSE Very Happy

But wow, on those figures (that's a facelifted 5.0 for the price of facelifting a 4.2) but... Surely the man/ woman on the street would pay a wee bit more a la cost to change?
