Not at all Eugene , just saying if he already has a trustworthy 4.2 why change ... but like you say if he has the dosh to get one then go for it ...

The 4.2 SC is an awesome car and so much for the money, but the 5.0 leaves the 4.2 standing still and is much smoother, feels more nimble and is just terrifically awe inspiring.

As a soon to be new owner of a 5.0Sc i must say that the drive, comfort is amazing. The again i have come from a P38 Vogue. There are still some good ones to be had that are advertised. Go for the 5.0SC 2011 5.0SC Santorini Black

If it helps i worked out fuel costs on my assumed travel mileage. I used what i think is "worst case scenario" figures for MPG on what were my three engine options. If my maths is correct"ish" then the 5.0 was about £500 more costly

Fuel costs to be honest don't matter I do 26k a year and the 5.0l won't cost any more than the 4.2l

Sandy, I am very very happy with my 5.0 but I have to say my 4.2 is not in "perfect" condition despite the amount of work done on it. So for me personally the extra cost of the 5.0 was more than worth it.

bought my 4.2SC in March 2014 - thus far done 27000kms (16875miles) excluding the 7000kms (4375miles) I did with the dealer's freelander whilst my car was with them. During this month we will most probably do another 6000kms (3750miles) going on holiday and business). So yes I also do quite a bit of mileage but it so comfortable and effortless in this car.

The point is the 5.0 feels MUCH more luxurious and "Expensive" than the 4.2.

The 5.0 has more than enough power. I can't see the point in adding more power. |

@CSK: when is enough ever enough? |

Because it is not a sports car and because it is more than enough the L322's chassis can handle.
