United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Zermatt Silver

I will give AJR a call tomorrow - it may well have been the headlamp self levelling ECU, I'll find out how they resolved it and post their solution 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Well, just spent an hour looking for the elusive headlamp leveling ecu, no sign of it, turns out that according to RAVE it was only fitted to cars with Vin numbers 2A100042-3A117361.
As my car is outwith these numbers I assume it isn't fitted with one, although the cabling to the headlights seems to be there. Is it possibly located elsewhere to that shown in Rave?
Back to the drawing board. Rolling Eyes Smile

Unplugged both headlights still no joy. Censored

Which plastic cover, the black one with the footwell light in it or the black trim that sits vertically around the bottom of the door opening? Doesn't seem to be in either position, certainly no pink connectors. My Vin is 4A.....

This is it shown in RAVE

Seems I am not alone having a dead diagnostic socket, the plot thickens

The holes for mounting the ecu are in the side panel and it appears there is a headlight level ecu is fitted somewhere as the cables go into each of the headlights unless the harness wasn't modified when the ecu was omitted.
It seems that the ecu may have been repositioned at some time either by LR as a modification or by the previous owner which I doubt.
From my reading it does seem the dead socket may well be caused by a fault in either the i bus or k bus, probably as a result of corrosion in a connector plug at an ecu. The question is where, not all the ecu plugs are liable to corrosion, most are inside the car. By any chance are the headlight ecu/ballasts a known problem due to corrosion?

Try the following, turn the key to the ON position and proceed with measuring the voltage between pin 5 and 8 of the OBD port using a volt meter. Repeat the same process between pin 5 and 7.

Cheers
