Smokin...?

My 2012 TDV8 blows out a fair bit of smoke if you put the foot down. A lot of my driving is town and when I get on a motorway and accelerate I get A LOT of smoke. Only 10,000 miles so far. Is that normal?

Sounds like you need a bit of a motorway blast to clear out the DPF Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Known problem on some 4.4 tdv8 engines where oil passes from the turbo to the DPF. Get it back to the dealer for repair under warranty Mike

These cars build up oil in the secondary turbo in town driven cars due to sitting idle for most of the time, then when u plant it it spins up and dumps it straight through into the exhaust, its what most of the dpf issues are caused by, filling with oil rather than soot, theres a fix for this involving fitting a more beefy oil drain pipe system which seems to have cured it, take it to a LR dealer its covered under warranty..

I had the same problem and iirc there was a thread on it. Mines currently at the dealer getting it fixed under warranty. It's a known problem so they wwill know what to do.

It seems to mainly affect cars that are mostly used fir town and short trips rather than constant long motorway miles. MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"
