Davao, at the risk of sounding dumb, what exactly is involved in transferring the transponder across and is this something that requires some electrician skills eg soldering etc?

This is what you will be doing, from the old style fix key to the new style flip key

This is the new style flip key with land rover logo,

now this is a new style with chrome sides, I was told that they plan to the word range rover down the side just like the 2012 smart key but as yet they have not,

Now I don’t make fortunes out of these keys, we are talking a few pounds on each but it bumps up the amount of units to meet the min order.

now I am not sure on this one, these keys are to replace the 02 to 05 keys but I have had a few enquires about 06 and 07 cars having the early style key, as a replacement key the transponder chip should swap over no problem but it’s the circuit board part that unlocks your car that may not work.
Lastly these are from a good supplier and are good quality, nice metal chrome parts and not flaky chromed plastic, good buttons. And not the early ones had problems with their buttons and as another member found out when he ordered some they had the wrong key blanks and I ended up sourcing blanks for him, these have the wide blank and can be cut by timsons.

no its very easy, just like changing the battery, when you take apart the remote just infront of the circuit board at the key end you will see a small black chip, this it the transponder remove it and replace it into the new key, bingo your done... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Worth noting that the key blades have to be laser cut.

Is it possible to get new transponder chips? I have been trying to do this key update for a while now and have collected many spares and different fobs. I have an 06 facelift with the BMW key. I have got the circuit board for an 07 flip key but need a new transponder for it and it coding to the ews.

I only have one key and am looking to do this for a spare.

If not I may have to buy one of these keys and use the transponder from that with the 07 circuit board if these keys won't open the car?

Bit cheeky, would you be willing to code my ews daveo if I was to drive to you? Goes without saying there would be a few beer tokens in it for you.

Ok... on the landrover flip style keys the transponder is part of the circuit board, these cannot be removed and the chances of getting a blank one is very low, when I first converted a diamond key to fit inside the flip case it was the transponder that caused the problem as it was not a blank chip as I was told and then it confuses the car resulting in your car locking the ignition out.
you say you have a 06 S/C with the old style key and that you have bought various spares, I think when they changed from late 05 the EWS changed to ford but I am not sure, if someone knows it would be great, do you have a spare circuit board from an old style key and does it program and work to your car. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Unfortunately that is one thing that I don't have. Is the ews easily accessible and would it be identified on there as being a ford part?

the EWS is located on the right side of th centre console level with the gear shift, its down the side and on the 02 to 05 looks like a grey box about the size of a ciggi packet.
