Bosch s5 silver 110ah 020

I need to buy a battery today. Our 7 year old one has finally given up.. Yes, 7 year old.
Is the bosch s5 silver 110ah still the recommended upgrade to go for?
I have read loads of threads about it and it will fit. But is it worth it?
Should I not just get the S3 017 normal size battery? Is the 020 worth the hassle?
I have found 110 delivered, can anyone suggest somewhere cheaper?
Cheers

ECP with one of the discount codes and thats delivered as well next day or pick up if you have a local branch Smile
They do it for 114.83 with discount unless you can find a 30% discount code that would make it even cheaper but they are all off at the minute Sad

It requires a little cutting but well worth it in the long run as even if a cell fails in a few years time there should be enough grunt to still get a car going easily enough Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

the bosch/varta 020 is the best for the fullfat, a bit fiddly to fit but worth it especially with the 5 year warranty... ... - .- -.

I got mine to fit without any cutting. Obviously don't put it in the wrong way like I did. That gets very annoying. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

fitting is only an issue if you have the incendiary charge on the positive terminal which hangs over the side of the battery - this causes the 'clearance issues' that some of us have faced. Not all the early TDV8's had them as far as I can tell, so your TD6 is probably OK Thumbs Up

If your positive terminal looks like this

then be prepared to have to 'persuade' the battery into place with pry bars or 'plastic surgery' as the bottom of the charge will foul on the bulkhead. Some have managed to wiggle it in, I went down the route of cutting the plastic retaining lip on the bottom of the opposite side of the battery which gave me the space needed to get the battery further over to the right and give enough clearance to get the positive terminal to seat properly. The picture is taken before the fettling took place as the battery terminal is now a nice snug fit.

Thank you gentlemen.. S5 being ordered.
I always thought I had the explosive charge on mine, but obviously not, as it is nothing like Simons photo. My leads go over the top of the battery. Previously..

Is this not the same battery? I thought Varta made the Bosch batteries, which means this a pretty good deal!
