They've got a few on just now mate and the battery one is only giving you 15% off the £160 price. I just went through the checkout to reserve it and stuck in the service parts code which is SERVICE30 and pauly's your uncle, £112!!! Might want to hurry in case they catch on though!!

Sorry to dig up an old thread (found by Google whilst researching batteries!)

Will this battery fit into a 2006 SC with the explosive charge on the terminal without any hassle? Battery failure is looming on mine after 2 months.

Dips to 10.5v during starting and is driving the electrics nuts.

Looked out of the window this morning and saw the SC sitting there and it was annoying me that it wasn't working so I went to Halfords for a battery.

They didn't have the Bosch one in stock, they did however have a Yuasa one. It's got the same 5 year warranty as the Bosch, and when looking on the net nobody has a bad word to say about them. According to the bloke in Halfords they are phasing out their own brand batteries and soon will only be stocking Yuasa.

Anyway, it's an HSB020 which is 110Ah and 900CCA so should be perfectly up to the job.

I've heard people talking about Battery Megastore but I don't fancy trying to return something to them should it fail. At least this way I've got a battery with a 5 year warranty that can be returned to any Halfords store in the UK should it fail.

Anyway, I'm pleased to say that normal service has resumed Smile .

Pricewise the Yuasa is around the £100 mark with a Halfords Trade card.

i recently exchanged a two year old (5yr warrantied) 020 bosch battery at halfords, for the yuasa one. no problems. keep your receipt safe, that way you can change it towards the 5 yr 'warranty window' i actually changed mine with a photocopy of the receipt, and they stamped it 'exchanged' -on the copy, so I have a spare 'real receipt' in case I come across another knackered one -on my travels.
just take it to the spottiest ginger boy racer muppett, and presto!

there are a few ways of 'killing' your battery........

there is a battery fitting Wiki somewhere on here i believe. but, short people need to find a suitable standing platform etc.

Just fitted a (supposedly) Bosch 020 S5 (label said 015 but all dimensions and spec are 020) to the TDV8. It was a squeeze (incendiary charge) but got it in with no cutting required. The way it sits I haven't yet managed to get the outermost clamp on but it's not going anywhere. Needed to attach positive cable and then shuffle battery down into place.

So for all those that have the charge don't get too put off.

TDV8 No start this morning and a very moaning SWMBO not impressed so 020 Bosch purchased from Halfrauds on their trade card beating everyone by £5 £127.99 vat inc.
Looking at it tonight bloody hell that's going to be a squeeze its only a 013 in there at the moment, no wonder it did not start.
That's a job for Saturday and plenty of swearing by the looks of it, wish me luck and I will post pikkys If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.
