Screen goes blank?

Hi guys
Today on a fair length drive my radio/sat nav screen kept going blank then after a few minutes came back on!
Then off then on etc!

Although it was blank it was still lit up??
Radio worked fine just couldn't see anything

When I got back I had a fiddle with the amp/tuner/dsp wires with no joy?

Any ideas what causes this or is the screen on its way out??

I've bought a water shedder so need to fit that but nothing seems damp? Also it's a brand new mk4 sat unit from Baris only fitted a month or so ago!
Any suggestions appreciated
Thanks

If you've checked all the connectors, then a battery disconnect/reconnect is worth a go.

Mine does do a "reset" every now and then, but no more than once a week, and only once at a time.

Yours does sound like a cable connection issue ? .

It doesn't seem to reset as the radio still works when the screen is blank!
I've got to fit this watershedder at some point so ill take everything out and check every connector!
Would you suggest maybe a little electric grease to keep the moisture out?
I was just hoping its not any of the units failing?

I would try wiggleing (?) each of the various plugs about whilst watching the screen to see if it comes on, including the sat nav connections.
You could paint vaseline in the various pins once you get it working to keep any moisture out.

It's your sat nav that's the problem

I had exactly the same problem.

Is it making a noise when running

A few things can cause this.

Speed camera alert firmware - which will cause the nav unit to reset itself, when you go past certain locations. Splash screen will reappear.

TV tuner connections. The actuAl pins on the tuner get rusty, and loosen up. Piug the blue connection from TV tuner into the nav unit. That will eliminate the tv tuner out of the equation.

If its non of the above, send the nav unit back and il test it over here. Do try and get as much info from it as possible, before going that route, as it will help me diagnose quicker.

Thanks Baris, ill prob send the amp at the same time for upgrade etc!
I can't see it being the sat nav as I've check every day for water etc and had none! Unless like you say firmware prob?
Can the tuner be permanently bypassed if it is a fault with the tuner?? Or would I need a new unit?

Yes, take the blue connection from the tv tuner and plug it into the navigation drive.

I don't use the speed camera alert firmware, so unless you changed it, it shouldn't be that. Does the splash screen pop up, after it goes blank?

No! The splash used to pop up fine but then one day I opened the door and nothing!! After a few mins the radio screen would pop up then disappear?

And no I haven't changed the firmware etc as I wouldn't have a clue how! Lol
