Ha, I'm onto something. Charged the battery for 6 hours, started, went to have it tested: No problem.
Got back home, did new drain tests, several observations:
- Instead of having 5A when the doors have just been closed, I have 6A
- I came back 30 mins after doors were closed, 0,150/160A (this is new)
- 10 mins more : 0.01
I keep the ohmmeter connected and will come back on and of to see what's being consumed. 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

One thing you haven't tested for to date is immobiliser / alarm drain.
To do this you need to connect the multimeter as before but have it in a position so that you can read it with the bonnet shut, the doors closed and the car locked.
I would expect a current drain whilst doing this greater than the 0.01A previously observed.
To be able to read the multimeter outside the car with the bonnet shut you pass the cables over the battery, lay the multimeter on the bottom of the windscreen and close the bonnet.
Wait for the usual time after locking the doors.

Ok, will do that now. Is it worth mentionning that I have no alarm or horn signal when I lock the car with the key remote and that the bonnet is open?
edit: when I came back to the car, it had 0.13, the meter is now outside the car on the windscreen 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

Have a go at it.
Not sure why you can lock the car without the bonnet shut, it shouldn't be the case.

If your bonnet is up, the switch on the driver side will be activated telling the alarm the bonnet is open and it won't activate the alarm. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

re-did several tests, bonnet closed.
there seems to be a residual 0.130 to 0.150 after 20 mins and 0.01 after 30 to 40 mins 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

That is very low and should not kill a battery overnight or even over days. I suggest to keep the multimeter on it for the next few days and do regular evening/late night checks as well as early morning checks (including voltage in the morning). If this is "normal" behaviour then you may be looking at a defective battery and since it is fairly new, it may still be under warranty. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I would need a logger (someting that keeps consumption information over a period of time). Does it exist?
Reg the battery, even if it's the cause I'd love to have, it's been tested twice and they say it's ok... 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

I agree with the above 0.01A drain is minimal and certainly wouldn't drain a battery overnight.
Pity you can't fit a recording ammeter for a couple of days to see if anything on the car is switching itself on when the car is unattended.

With regard to the alarm / immobiliser setting itself with the bonnet open, it appears this is correct. According to the handbook the alarm / immobiliser will secure everything it can on locking even if the bonnet or a door is open.
It is described as a "partial arming".
If the door / bonnet is subsequently closed the system resets itself and fully arms.

The total currnet drain on the car therefore , with the alarm / immobiliser is 0.01A ie 100mA.

If you wish to continue, all you can now do is to carry on checking for drain on individual fuses although I doubt you are going to find anything significant.

One thing I would try, if it's not inconvenient, is to remove Fuse 49 for a few days and see what happens. This means no audio or sat nav.

If you wish to know the state of your battery you might like to purchase on of these and plug it into to socket.

Voltmeter

At least you would have an idea of the state of the battery before you wish to start the car.

I've removed Fuses 64 & 34 to begin with and will keep them removed until the battery goes down.
I was wondering if logging ohmeters exist but they do:
http://cgi.ebay.fr/Digitek-DT-4000ZC-TekPo..._861wt_971
However, let's imagine, I have one of these plugged and I see a drain in the night of 1 amp for xx mins / hours. The only thing I can do about it is remove the fuses one after the other and see if the drain is still here.
Would maybe be better to just plug a volt meter on the battery and check every morning, no? 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

I didn't know data logger devices were available that size.
You could fit a data logger to individual fused circuits but probably only as a last resort.
I still have a suspicion about your battery, even though it's been tested as ok.
One test you could try is to charge the battery fully and then disconnect the battery -ve cable and if possible leave the battery disconnedcted for a couple of days.
If it discharges, the battery is faulty.
If it doesn't discharge the fault is on your car somewhere.

indeed, I can do that over the week end, I'm like you, I still have an irrational part of me that suspects it.
btw, why do I need to have it fully charged? I just need to unplug it, measure, then measure back, no? 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

ok, unplugged, 12.18 right now, will check twice a day and report if there are changes.
rechecked now : 12.22 (roughly 3 hours later) but I suppose that since I measured it just after unplugging the car, this is normal and that 12.22 is in fact my reference 2008 TDV8 VOGUE - Buckingham Blue on Sand

FWIW, my battery when measured a couple of days ago was 12.53 at rest, engine off, no loads and 14.43 with engine running at 2k
