OK, I have a technical question again then please. It's not immediately apparent to me yet but can this tool reset the gearbox ECU adaptives section at all?

Thanks. Dom.

Is there any way to set FHM to turn on automatically without having to flick the high beam?

I have gone through the menus, but can't see what I'm doing wrong.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

[]

I did read the previous page where a comment was made that the lever had to be flicked once the ignition was off.

I wondered if there was any solution or any future plans by GAP to automate the FMH feature...

The usual response from the guys at GAP is that they don't introduce something that's not there, so if the FMH function needs to be activated in a certain manner, that's the way it works! Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Exactly! Thanks Alan.

This is exactly the problem. We can't program freely - we are only giving access to options programmed into the ECUs by LR (or BMW).

FMH on early L322s is activated by leaving the lights on until the ignition has been switched off. AFAIK there are no other options avail for this.

It's a shame. My 2010 Sport has this option, unlock the car and the lights come on and lock the car and the lights stay on (when its dark).

A lot of older mercs have this too.

Anyway, not GAPs fault.

Hi Steve,

A few questions from me Smile

Is it possible to activate the lower tailgate solenoids from the IID tool?

Is it possible to hook it up to a PC at all to use a gui or CLI as a possible quicker way to navigate around?

Thanks,

Hi Will,
Unfortunately no on both counts.

I don't think that the tailgate solenoids and switches are on a bus - I believe they are just hard wired (have to check the wiring diags to make sure). So we have no access to them.

As for displaying the IIDTool menu - we have something coming but at the moment the USB connector is only for updates.

IIRC the rear lower actuators are activated by a pulse being sent from the switch. The switch pulse then goes to the BCM which is meant to trigger the actuators together to release the lower tailgate.

No worries about the laptop bit as i could live without it, just thinking ease of use for a CLI or Gui person in the future but it would add to the cost i guess. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

You are correct - I checked in the workshop manual:

Upper Tail Door Internal Release Switch
The internal upper tail door release switch is a non latching push switch installed on the centre console. The switch
allows the tail door to be opened from inside the vehicle. When the switch is pressed a ground is connected to the
BCU. The BCU only responds to the input when the CDL system is unlocked and the vehicle is stationary.
Upper Tail Door External Release Switch
The external upper tail door release switch is a microswitch installed in the license plate lamp housing in the bottom
edge of the upper tail door. The switch is operated by a lever connected to a rubber covered plate set into the outside
surface of the license plate lamp housing. When the switch is activated it connects a ground to the BCU. The BCU
only responds to the input when the CDL system is unlocked and the vehicle is stationary
Lower Tail Door Release Switch
The lower tail door release switch is a non latching push switch installed under a rubber cover in the top edge of the
lower tail door. When the switch is pressed, a battery voltage signal is connected to the BCU. The BCU only responds
to the input when the upper tail door is unlatched and the vehicle is stationary.
Lower Tail Door Release Relay
The lower tail door release relay is installed on the rear fusebox. When the BCU receives a valid input from the lower
tail door release switch, it momentarily energises the relay to simultaneously activate the lower tail door release
actuators.

I will ask Christian as he is the one making decisions on this, but as this does go through the BCM we can control it. If it is included, we would include it in the final major FW release later this year as manual component activation is one of the items we do not yet consider complete in the IIDTool.

Thanks Steve.

I do sometimes think if there is a trigger issue recognising the upper tailgate as open but the lights come on so it must be there and working Smile

Anyway i digress! Thank you for your input on this one Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
