Many thanks for the detailed reply, is there a way to obtain the updated firmware maybe from LR themselves?

I find the IID Tool great to use but was not aware of the subtle differences in FW build between the vehicles, are you planning any further updates for the tool?

Stan and TurboTony are exactly correct. This only applies from 02-04, tho. As of 05 it's gone. So flipping it won't help, miller...

Hi there, looking for some info. Recently been having issues with the engine management light. After being ripped off with the dealers im refusing to let them at the car again.
It was due to either bank running rich, poor fuel economy and the car running rough, especially at idle. Replaced all the o2 sensors, replaced the PCV hoses valve etc etc. Also done the plugs, one side the old ones were fine and the other side they were completely covered in carbon. The car is running much better now. But still not quite back to the mpg I remember getting.
Reset the engine management light using the iid tool. but it always returns withing 10-15 mins. When i search for a fault on the engine ecu it displays 'no comm with ecu' anybody had this before? is it normal or should i be replcing the ecu? any other items i should be checking/replacing regarding mpg. cleaned out filter and venturi etc etc.

Update to previous post-with regards to mpg fitted new MAF still nothing. As for reading engine fault codes still getting 'NO COMM WITH ECU' any ideas, anybody? New ecu?
Maybe I should be focusing my questions towards getting brightness of daylight running lights adjusted to my preference or beeping noises comming on as alarms sets itself

Hi Fraser,
Sorry for the late reply.

When the IIDTool has no comms with the engine ECU, it is usually either that the IIDTool is being used with the key in the accy (radio) position rather than ignition or there is a connectivity problem on pin 7 of the OBD connector.
Please check the following: do you get a 'Safe Mode' message when you enter the menu? Is menu navigation slow (1-1000, 2-1000 per click rather than 1,2,3...)?
If you have not been using the IIDtool in accy position, please check your OBD connector on the vehicle. The 2 'tounges' in the pin 7 connector may need to be bent inwards with a jewelers screwdriver or pin.

I had a similar issue with slow response times and no comms.

Steve mentioned the possibility of bad connections, I reshaped the connectors and it worked for me.

ok, I will be getting my tool as soon as I am back from a few days away, wanted to ask a few questions , can you make a total back up of your car so if you mess up something you can put it back how it was..
I wanted to enable my rain sensor, is this possible?

i believe you can save before you start playing dave, it appears that you can activate the rain sensor but it depends on your bcm, and menu/sub menus are on post number one and on the GAP site.. ... - .- -.

The IIDTool does not do a full back up of all poss settings, tho, only an automatic back up of the EAS settings on first use. It isn't really an issue - there is not much to mess up aside from the EAS which could possibly need a new calibration. Everything else is pretty much on/off.

Hi Guys

The following is from the IIDTool user manual. It explains the various restore options available.

EAS Calibration
Restore Original - will allow you to recall your original settings (the original back-up values). The back-up values are the calibration values that were stored in the ECU when the IIDTool was activated (if the vehicles calibration was not accurate prior to activating the IIDTool, these values will not be good).

Restore Settings 1 to 3 - will allow an immediate restore to the settings saved in memory slots 1 to 3. This option only appears if settings have been saved.

Car CCF (2005 and up only)
Will allow recall of the original configuration setting on all supported ECUs on the CAN networks except the EAS ECU.

Individual ECU’s configuration
Will allow recall of the original configurations of the BPM (Body Processor) and LCM (Light Control) ECU’s.
