FBH Not working on my TD6 Help!

Hi all

This is my first post on this forum, I was told about it by another member who has purchased a kit from me, any way

I have a few question and problems i need help with on my FBH,

My range is an o4 TD6 vogue, with remote FBH and sat nav screen etc.

Ive had the car just over a few years now and it has been great,
since owning the car ever time I unlock it or open a door after its gone to sleep etc
the FBH fan starts up for a minute or two?? Is this normal??

A few weeks ago the FBH started turning its self on in the cold morning as it should but after a minute once it had started up i get a groaning noise from that area which has to be the FBH never heard it before,( ive read other post on the groaning noise and its the same thing) but this is a new noise to my car.

the remote operation has been working fine until early this week, the groan has also stopped?

so i know the FBH is the problem so i do a few test etc.

after pressing the on button on remote or in the car, it fires the fan up for about 60 secs then turns off

More info if needed but can any one help me out if you've had this before .

great site by the way and hopefully Ill become an active member.

cheers Rob Very Happy

in past experience the usual thing to go wrong with the fbh is the little fule pump, its in a Censored place and it corrodes like hell. it sits just above the rear subframe, always worth a quick check before taking the liner out and digging deeper.

Hi Arron

Ive checked out the pump tonight, it does look a little rusty,

so i tested the plug going to the pump by putting my test lamps on the end of it(12v bulb and some wire)

to see if i was getting the pulse from the FBH (clicking sound when normally running)

but no power or pulse.????

Ive been reading a few forums on rover 75s that have the same heater
and they are saying if the fan starts when you wake the car or unlock etc
its a sign its on its way out????

is it just my car or does any one else have the same when they unlock there TD6????

Think its going to be a new heater Censored RANGE ROVER 04 TD6

There is a lot of posts on FBH issues in the forum if you conduct a search.

I had mine replaced by main dealer under warranty, I believe it is a £1200 replacement item, but there are serviceable components.

Check this post out:

And good luck, it is very annoying when they don't work, I went through a severe cold snap for three months without one brrrr! Big Cry 2018 Range Rover Autobiography

Arron:
I've read somewhere that if you have a telestart (remote) the fan always starts when you wake the car etc
can any other TD6 owners confirm this???

The Brains Trust:
Id love too, is that offer from you Cool

Claud:
I read nearly 20 odd last night Yawn, and found some interesting stuff,

Tonight I've tested the pump with my old battery I removed a few weeks ago,

Pumps in great shape, that much so I got carried away and ended up with diesel dripping from the FBH exhaust. And then tried firing it up but still luck getting my mini jet engine to start Very Happy

So its not the pump.

Ive been through all the manuals for the heater and details of how they work etc, And I'm going to try changing the burner chamber first as i think the glow plug may have gone and a blocked gauze could be my probs

The heater starts & switches off etc as it should so at the moment I don't think its the ECU.

Does any one want me to take photos etc to do a post on stripping down the FBH. Whistle RANGE ROVER 04 TD6

I have the 05 TD6

I don't have remote option.

My FBH seems to fire up and work correctly when the cars running. I hear it groaning and the pump ticking away. The exhaust gets hot.

BUT I can't get the cabin heating working via the timed setting, I just get the fans switching on without any heat.

Hi paul B

I take it you have sat nav. Have you tried the direct mode
With key in position 2.

And for the timed have you turned temp high and puts fan on full auto
Before turning the car off. RANGE ROVER 04 TD6

On your screen go in to aux heating then wait a few seconds
And you should be able to select the lower left corner aux heating
That's the instant way to start the fbh rather than setting the timer RANGE ROVER 04 TD6

paul, your fbh will only work if the outside temp is below a certain limit ...or your battery needs replacing.. ... - .- -.
