Hey guys and girls.

I am at a loss with my L322. It’s had a very faint vibration but more of a vibration sound / resonance (if that makes sense) I can really hear it as soon as engine starts but mostly under load when low speed throttle inputs and around 50mph in 7th gear. It seems to be worse around 1500rpm. It’s like a droan in the cabin and can feel it through the seat base and pedals so assume something is being transmitted into the floor of the vehicle.

It’s not the engine sound. It’s something different. It never did it when I bought it. I noticed it 6 months ago but couldn’t fathom it out. Now it’s getting progressively worse.

Local shop couldn’t find what I was on about. - clearly didn’t want the work!
The car is fully serviced by Land Rover / LR specialist. Nothing was flagged on last MOT earlier this year.

Mine had a vibration/drone that seemed to be eminating from under the driver's floor which was found to be caused by 2 brake pipes near the master cyclinder vibrating together. A spacer clip had become detatched from 1 pipe.

Mine used to make a similar sound at about the same rpm and speed as yours. My wife used to say it sounded like a cow going moo. It turned out to be the transmission under tray resonating.

Thanks both! My transmission tray isn’t loose but I may take it off to eliminate and check the brake pipes. It does sound a bit “moo” now you mention it as it changes pitch as you bring the RPM up.

Definitely a vibration too felt through the bulkhead/floor area.

Are the brake pipes accessible enough underneath?

The gearbox undersheild makes a noise but mine at least wasn't felt through the floor, didn't change pitch and I could only hear it with the window down. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

The brake pipes are close to the master cylinder/booster, seen from the top.

So I’ve been under the car, bonnet, wiggled anything that might rattle.

One brake pipe was loose but not vibrating with engine on. I clipped it back in anyway - no difference.

Took the trans metal plate / shield off - no difference.

Cable tied some loose heat shields - no difference.

She sure is testing me this car…..! ☹️

I have similar in my 2011 4.4 TDV8. In my case it only appears within the speed range of 70 to 90k and then goes away at higher speed. I have put this down to the rear tyres which in my case involves different brands front and rear. Its annoying however given a fair amount of rubber left on the rears think I will live with it until the next tyre replace.

I’m thinking torque converter or gearbox related as the engine runs fine ☹️

I have to regularly clean out dried mud from the gearbox mount bracket. I've drilled a few 25mm drain holes trying to prevent mud accumulating but it still builds-up. I need to clean it out again now as the vibration is back again.
