Is this the cause of my black smoke issue??

Had a quick poke around and found this, I assume this might explain the heavy black smoke under load?

Is the greasy film on the engine cover being thrown out of the split??

Yes and yes.

Self amalgamating tape, inner tube and tie wraps as temp.fix whilst waiting for part.

Did it not feel sluggish and burn through fuel quicker? Cheers

James

Hi,

Can’t really say it was massively sluggish and didn’t notice fuel being burnt through but then these days it’s more “driving miss daisy” than “fast and furious” Very Happy

Guess I’ll do both sides then, in for a penny and all that!!

New parts should be here today so had a Quick Look at the pipe.

This is what the pipe looked like on the inside which although had some oil residue I don’t think is so much to be worried as I suspect the hole was making it worse.

Most importantly the valve end looks pretty clean so to my eye it look normal.

Anyone see something different?

Very pleased to report that two new genuine hoses later and the old girl is back to full health.

So much so in fact but I’m wondering just how long the split was there as it’s a lot more responsive - a happy camper until the next drama.
