changing the pad is really easy i did mine last weekend i used some fuse wire to 'cut' behind the reflector to get through the glue (its really tough stuff) then just clean the area over with white sprit to remove any grease before applying the new pad - if ordering from that company (i got mine from there) they do charge a small fortune in postage (£8 for a part no bigger than half a 5 pound note!!! rip off, but was the only company i could find that sold them here in the UK)

Hi Dave - I assume you mean new black trims down the left and right of the screen on the outside.? NO....

Should they have done or is it optional (unless they break them) Ash

well yes as they have to stick to the windscreen down the front edge to stop wind noise, unless they put sealer on them, how about the top trim Question was you there when they done it.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Will be interested to hear if Blackbox find a solution to programming your LCM - I read somewhere else that this was a big problem (although cannot remember where) - particularly if you manage to avoid the dreaded black spot!

They told me that they were unable to do new instrument clusters, and as the LCM works hand in hand with the IC....

OK - Update

Spoke with my friendly LR indy and I'm going to see him Saturday morning hopefully.

He has had a look through AutoLogic and said there is an option to enable/disable Auto Lights and/or Auto Wipers so it seems it is configurable.

He also said he should be able to configure the LCM to my car using Auto Lgic as well. If not, the LR T4 system will allow him to "install a replacement unit" that will re code to the chasis/mileage etc anyway. I guess this reads the chassis and mileage details from the cars systems and then programmes the new unit accordingly. That will get rid of the "black dot of death" for me.

£40 all in he said.. Happy days but will update you all once I've been down there. Ash

Thanks for the update Comports - you definately have my attention!

Please let us know how you get on. My understanding is that the LCM is a "one time write" module - meaning that you can only initialise NEW modules with T4, at least with regards to the mileage - and so if you succeed in removing the black spot of death, this will be good news for all reading, even if it means paying a stealer.

I think that this has been the issue for all 3rd party diagnostics systems, which can change all, or most, other settings.

Managed to pop down to my mate this morning...

He did check and everything was already enabled (ie auto wipers and lights) but there is an additional setting in there for (something like) "Delay setting for intermittent (Overrides auto wipers)" which was also set.

Turned that bit off and hey presto everything works as it should..!

Didn't manage to clear the black dot but he is going to investigate with Autologic for that bit.

We did however come up with a fault on the light levelling however. Can you guys comment on this. When you start the RR do your lights go through a level check i.e. "Lower and raise the lights"? This happens on my CLK but I have never seen the FFRR lights move.? Ash

There is no self level check on our lights, the adaptive ones do check though - up/down left/right.

It's all immaterial really considering the suspension keeps the car level at all times... But they have to comply with legislation that doesn't consider the EAS.

hi ash, i have a bi-xenon headlight with the adaptive built in as a spare light, they will not work on our cars, the need some commands from other modules and the steering sensor as well, on the later cars 06 and on they started fitting them and yes when you start they go up and down only.. thats interesting info you man found, i am sure you have said but what diag system does he use. i was told that on the LCM it was a code once only unit making it impossible to write to it again...but theres no such thing as impossible. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Hi Dave - He used his AutoLogic system today to re programme it all. My car was showing up as a petrol as well for some reason so he went through a few bits. Turned on daylight running but I didn't like that so we turned that off again. Ash
