After much reading and faffing I see why the sprinter one is what people generally go for:

If you trawl the forum you will see someone that took a grinder, ground of the horns and made it rectangular. Then glued a rubber layer on top and it fits the hole as well.

They probably just have an account with a courier, and that's what the courier quotes them. It's not worth their hassle to find another carrier just for you. I've had a look at their jacks, they're nothing special, just the generic Chinese made ones you can get anywhere. There must be somewhere in Australia that sells them. If it comes to it, how much does a Mercedes dealer charge for a replacement jack for a Sprinter van? |

I got my Merc jack the other day, went outside in the rain and jacked up the motor with it, very happy with its performance

The jack on the sprinter van is located under the passenger footwell of the van and is lay on its side from new so it will be fine lay down in a RR. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20 I swear you will never see anything like this ever again....watch it..drink it in. |

In view of the scathing criticism of the Range Rover scissor jack and it suitability for use on such a heavy vehicle, has anyone had any feedback from Land Rover on the subject? Also is the jack supplied with the new l405 any better suited to its purpose? Agueroooooooooo. 93-20

The sprinter jack is fine stored laid on it's side, as has been said, it's how it's stored in the vans.

The L405 jack looks as weak as the L322 one. The car is 450kg lighter though. |

The scissor jack will be cheaper, all adds up on the number of cars they build. And i suspect it was BMW sourced. |

the original classics came with a jack which looked like a bottle but if i recall you had to wind it up with a long handle rather than pumping it. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Many in the D3 world have had the jack fail and the general response from LR is along the lines of "We'll give you a new one if it fails, sir "... Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver |

Yes now you mention it, it was a mechanical bottle jack with a screw thead. VW LT's had them instead of the hydraulic one their close relative the sprinter has. I suppose they're safer than a hydraulic bottle jack as there is no chance of the seals going but more fiddly to use. |
