I checked the sgs-engineering.com place out and decided on a 5 ton jack.(TBJ5)
After a bit of hassle with there system(it showed VAT-when I dont have to pay it),the post to send it was the killer for me.
$144.20AU.
I know it weighs 23.5kg,but 144.20 to post
If anyone knows of a way to get it to Australia cheaper,please let me know as they wont send it any othere way.

After much reading and faffing I see why the sprinter one is what people generally go for:

It fits in the wheel well & has the highest jacking height out of most jacks available.

The jacking adapter is almost as expensive as the jack itself so unless its absolutely needed
it can be left out of the equation for now.

If you trawl the forum you will see someone that took a grinder, ground of the horns and made it rectangular. Then glued a rubber layer on top and it fits the hole as well.

I bought the Mini/BMW plastic adapter blocks (on for the big jack at home and one for the Sprinter bottle jack) and just need to drill the hole in the bottom of one of the adapters, remove the horns bit and fit the adapter over the bottle jack ram . MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I got my Merc jack the other day, went outside in the rain and jacked up the motor with it, very happy with its performance

The hard rubber blocks (jacking points) absorb the horns no problem so I wont be messing around with the conversion as IMO its not needed.

I swear you will never see anything like this ever again....watch it..drink it in.

The sprinter jack is fine stored laid on it's side, as has been said, it's how it's stored in the vans.

But don't try pumping it when it's laid on it's side, as it'll need re-priming.

Didn't the Range Rover classics have a hydraulic bottle jack.

The L405 jack looks as weak as the L322 one. The car is 450kg lighter though.

to my knowledge the P38 came with a bottle jack,
lord only knows why they thought the scissor jack would be a good replacement

I haven't thrown the scissor jack away yet as I'm still horrified that it committed suicide, I need to find a suitable way of killing it some more to satisfy myself

The D2 came with a bottle jack. Still got mine in the D2. John

The scissor jack will be cheaper, all adds up on the number of cars they build. And i suspect it was BMW sourced.

the original classics came with a jack which looked like a bottle but if i recall you had to wind it up with a long handle rather than pumping it.  There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
