Agree Thumbs Up You can torque it up pretty tight - you wouldn't get it off with a regular spanner, you need torque wrench or long extension bar.

Whistle I'd get yourself some shin pads, they didn't make the tow bar removable for nothing Whistle Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

The hole for the bolt is also threaded for half the depth -

Which means it takes ages to take on or off as the bolt has to be turned all the way through - you can't just pop it in & tighten up - hence the comments about it being more theft proof - at the end of the day, it's just a bolt, but if it's tight, its hard to start taking off & even with the right tools it takes several minutes. It's also bloody heavy - you wouldn't want to run with it.....

Towbar now fitted Thumbs Up ...looks like things are slightly different now,ie no threaded bolt, just a pin !
I requested that a bolt & nut were fitted but was told that's not advisable as it is not the approved method Rolling Eyes ...so I got them to spit weld the pin to at least make it harder to be nicked.

Also they now just fit the above as standard^^^^ Rolling Eyes ...an adapter has now been ordered

13pin sockets are now fitted as the norm now, as the Caravan manufacturers have been using the 13pin plug as standard since about 2009, and even the trailer manufacturers are moving to them.

The 13pin system at least doesn't have so much of a reputation of overheating and burn out as the old style 12N/12S plugs.

You wont regret the 13 pin set up, with an adapter it gives you the best all round options Thumbs Up Plus the 13 pin wiring, assuming that it's OEM, is the only one that will accept LED's without the need to faff about with resistors to stop all the error messages on the screen of Doom, accompanied by the Bong of death Wink Had one on my FFRR for 6 months, have towed 50 odd different trailers without any drama Very Happy Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Actually, the reason that they are using 13 pin plugs is, all trailers made after September 2012 have to be fitted with reversing lights, and tested by VOSA or be type approved before you can use them on the road, and this is the law Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
