Yes I noticed this the first time I used the FF to tow my Ifor Williams car transporter, I found it was worse unladen, also my tow ball was a bit too low which made the situation worse.

Yep, can be noisy. Mine has the detachable hitch, so it's not play in the bar.

The problem is where the so called removable part slots into the receiver it is so loose it moves up/down and left to right,I have spoken to the dealers and I'm thinking of having the 2 parts welded to stop it |

You can see in this pic just how much of a gap there is

I have had the same on several L323's - now I just push a business card into the slot - it takes up the freeplay, its simple, it works and you can still remove the towbar. Don't weld it you will ruin the towbar and if there is an accident it could be blamed... 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17 |

Tap a couple of plastic building packers tight into the slots. Will take up the slack and won't go soggy

This is precisely why I recommended the tow bar with the bolt fitting earlier in this thread. I had the same problem. |

I always take the view that if the rattling stops I must have forgotten to put the pin in before I set off Geoff |

I find that I can concentrate on where I'm going as long as there is a rattle from the back, the second that I hit smooth road, which doesn't happen a lot now a days, I'm looking more in the rear view mirror to see if everything is still there

It's also a good use for old credit cards - don't tell me it's not just me that keeps them. Geoff |
