The 6 speed takes a different oil to the 8 speed sir! Twice the money too for the 8 speed fluid! |

A few quotes from around the web for you Craig
If thats not enough for you... Note, Oil Strainer
Because your engine oil filter has a service interval of 15-16k miles. The gearbox "filter" has an interval of 150k miles The main cause of gearbox issues with the ZF6HP26 is due to the condition of the oil. I can tell you, I flushed an RRS box with 87k mles on it yesterday. The owner was able to tell the difference in gearchanges within 100 feet |

The fact is if I had a flushing machine to replace the oil would I want to remove the sump, wipe it all out and fit a filter/strainer when I could keep it simple and just change the oil.To be honest I would but most people would just want to do the simple thing and still get good money for it.To be fair I think the biggest problem is the oil and there is no question it has the biggest benefit but any mechanical person would want that sump off ,wipe all the out, clean the magnets and get the new filter on as well! |

not sure that's possible. perhaps the bridge solution is to flush then change the sump/filter then top up.

I didn't expect to convince you, Craig. Just putting the facts out there for all to see Bear in mind, as I have said in the past, as well as others on this very forum, that it is the old, dirty, degraded oil that causes the issues. By replacing the oil pan, you are still only replacing around 5 litres of oil, still less than half of the oil capacity of the gearbox... FWIW, I flushed an RRS TDV6 box on Friday (without replacing the sump) This is the feedback he put up on the RRS Forum. I have slightly altered, and not quoted the whole post, due to site sponsorship rules, but said post is there for all to see
But yes, we shall agree to disagree
Short answer is, you can't, unless you re-use the oil that was drained out. Not advisable! If it were me, I would flush the box, then drain and swap the sump over, then fill again with new oil. You do waste 4-5 litres, but if the oil is bought in bulk, it is fairly cheap |
