Reduced Performance

I was on my way to the local indie yesterday so they could change my front pads, as I slowed for a 40 the engine started to run rough and then the message appeared 'reduced performance' and they weren't joking about 45 top speed and very very slow to move away. Only a couple of miles to indie so brakes done and diag showed a faulty temp sensor. Discovered the indie can do warranty work so left the car with them, should be fixed on Monday.

Did the temp sensor fix this issue?

Often a split intake duct causes Restricted Performance on 4.4 TDV8s (usually OSR)

It may clear when you turn it off and back on again.

SCs used to do it which was connected to the aux coolant pump being wired up so that it ran back backwards. Rolling Eyes

But as yours is a TDV8 getting the fault codes read is the only real way of understanding what is wrong.

Hope you can use it for the hospital trip ok. 2006 4.2 SC

It's a FFRR, anything could happen! There's every chance you won't see it again! The codes will tell you for sure.

I've had it a few times before. It doesn't actually leave you stranded, it just takes a bit longer to get to where you are going! Whistle 2006 4.2 SC

Check the top inter cooler hoses for splits, this will cause the problem and is a pretty easy fix with a couple of screwdrivers, well it is on the 3.6....... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

My saga continues, they fitted the sensor and still had the fault so went to fit the sensor to the other bank only to find they are different. Correct one ordered from LR should have been in this morning but did not arrive. Will now have to wait until tomorrow, might have to cancel the weekend away.

Well, went to local dealer this morning they were so go i am going to name them Kentdale landrover, I explained the reduced performance issue and said I had to pick wife up from the hospital today, so they looked at it straight away.
They did a diagnostic on it which showed a boost pressure fault, not sure on which turbo at this stage, so while I was there we looked at some corrosion problems such as 3 door tops, the black metal frames also the rear tailgate struts and the leaking rear dampers. So it goes in on wednesday for warranty work and I get a Ewok for the day.
Although the reduced performance has to show its face again to give us a clue, I did notice on the m6 tonight from 70mph upwards there is a loss of power but when it then kicks down it is off like hell again.
They did say that the 3.6 does suffer from split turbo hoses but as yet not the 4.4.

Hope its not a turbo, possibly a map/boost pressure sensor gone awry, nice easy fix if it is. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Got the call on Friday morning that the car was fixed, went to pick it up only to find it was still sick so they lent me a LR 90 to tow with, bloody awful.
