It's Emperor Mong to most people but as you are a great and all powerful Moderator I will call off my angry minions. Very Happy

It was the bits about filing off plastic and O rings and wrong bayonet lugs that make me think this May not be straightforward.

I want an idiots' guide because, well, I'm an idiot.

United Kingdom 2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

If like me you had a few problems when trying to upgrade their reversing light bulbs to a 21watt version, I found these on
eBay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...1308864244

Shipped from Hungary and arrive in a few of days. In my MY2002 Vogue they are a direct replacement, same pin off-set, same bulb dimensions as the 6watt original equipment, so no need to adapt bulb holder or use additional spacer rings.

Did anybody who has already upgraded their reversing lights have any problems with fuses blowing or the wiring due to the additional load / current draw?
Many thanks for any info. Peter Kemp

Looks like those could be a better fit than the ones I listed then.

I looked for UK only though.

I've not had any issues since going to 21w........ I don't spend that much time in reverse.

If you were to still space the bulb holders back (very very easy to do job) then the much hotter 21w bulbs will be just that bit further away and take just that bit longer to distort the plastic lens... imho Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2002 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

I just did a random search on the eBay UK site for something like 12v 21watt bulbs and the ones I purchased were among the listings that popped up. As they looked like the originals with the same size of glass envelope I thought it worth a shot at the price. I didn't notice the seller was not UK based until a small packet with a Hungarian postage stamp turned up!

I expected to have to remove one of the offset pins to get them to fit the bulb holder and was pleasantly surprised when they fitted with no alteration.

I've just backed into my driveway and felt the reversing light lens which was only slightly warm but I may well follow Craig's excellent suggestion for added safety. Trouble is but I'm too embarrassed to ask Craig which part of the locating lugs on the bulb holder he trimmed to move the bulb back from the lens. I've looked at the triangular lugs on the bulb holders and the "L" shaped grove in the lens and assume you take material away from the square end of the lug. If I apply logic I'm bound to trim the wrong part! Peter Kemp

Hi,

Regarding the two reverse bulb upgrade types that members were ordering (links below) does anyone please have any - used them for a while - updates as to whether they are a worthwhile improvement and whether they have caused any peripheral issues such as melting reverse lamp lens covers etc?

Thanks

Thumbs Up
