It started...now there's a surprise Shocked

Don't wait too long before changing the pump as it will stop working again and you only get a few hits at it before it packs up completely.

If you look at the link I gave you earlier you will see that the commutator and brushes wear away leaving nothing to make contact and once that happens you're goosed

hi stan, ha ha yes i am, but mainly i went into panic mode as im living in the middle of the french countryside; with no dealer for a 50 miles. plus i had just rolled the rangie down the neighbours drive and was now parked right in front of a ditch. ( dutch neighbours, but only holiday home ) fortunately,

so i just had all these horrible senario's going through my mind how on earth i was going to get the car to the garage, or how the garage was going to get it on a trailer etc etc, how much was it going to cost etc etc etc, so yes i am happy at least knowing what it is now.

looking at the location, i think i will do it myself as it seems easy enough Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation . ( where have i heard that before ); either that or buy the unit in uk and give it to the dealer to fit, just incase i have bleeding issues.

anyway we will see and i hope not to have to pester you again Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed well not this week anyway Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

hi guys, just waiting to receive the secondary fuel pump from Dan, and i am yet undecided as to whether i will attempt to do it myself or put it into the dealers. would it need to be bled manually or is it simply a case on turning the ignition on for a period before starting? also if i do put it into the dealers, how long a job would you expect it to be Question

any other advice will be greatly received as per usual

bob

hi again lads, i have just received the pump from dan this afternoon, and am now wondering whether to attempt the changeover myself, or get it to the dealers Question Question

is there anything i should be wary of when taking the old one out? or is it generally easy enough a task to do? and if all goes to plan, how long a job would you expect it to take roughly? Question

Bow down Bow down

Have a read at this thread again Click Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Just buy a couple of new pipe clips as the old ones will be knackered when you remove them

thanks for that. sorry i had forgot you had already posted the details. Embarassed Embarassed i will try to get some new clips from somewhere?, Question i did ask dan to send some with the pump, but i think there was a bit of confusion with what i was asking for and i have got the new clips that hold the actual pump in place instead, Cool but not to worry, i will use jubilee clips if i cant find the ones your talking about. Thumbs Up

Hey Bob, these type of clips can be gotten from any good automotive parts place that supplies to garages. Find one in your area (not sure if Brezan operates in France already, they do in Holland and Belgium). Make sure you get stainless steel ones !! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

thanks for that, i will have a look around but if i cant find any, i will ask the local garage. not a dealer but it saves going 70 miles to the next one.

i don't want to risk doing it until i have some new ones. how long do you reckon it would take to do? is it a morning or afternoon's work or an hour ?

best wishes

bob
