Rear Door - Water Trapped between inner & outer seal

Not sure if anyone has experienced this problem but if i open the rear passenger door after it has rained i get a large amount of water come out, it looks as if it is trapped between the inner & outer door seals as there is no water in the car?

Checked the drain holes on the bottom of the door and they look clear also the seals are in good condition Confused

Can't understand why it is getting trapped, any advice would be helpfull

Gary

It's a common problem. Don't believe any solution has yet been found. Crying or Very sad

For me, it only ever seems to be on the drivers side rear this happens.

Only comforting thing is that if it can't get out at the bottom of the door, it can't get in there either. probably coming in way above any wading height. Smile .

I'm sure that Stan posted a cure fairly recently involving wedging a piece of 2x4 in the bottom of the door and gently pushing the top closed (possibly with the window open) - but my searching skills in the forum and wiki aren't up to much since I can't find it now.

wasnt me VV, my solution was to drill two 1'' diameter holes on the outside of the door to let the water out... Mr. Green ... - .- -.

Hi Joe

Same location - Rear Off Side door - will have a look at the fix but must admit don't fancy driving around with a bit of 4"x"2 jammed in the door Wink

I also have this on my 5.0 SC 2010 on offside door only.

Does anyone know of a video showing the block of wood and hang off the door trick to form the door slightly to stop this?

i had it, replacing the water shedders behind the door cards seems to have cured it.

Not something I'd recommend you try first time on a door that will cost an arm and a leg to replace, very easy to go too far and do permanent severe damage to it, get a bodyshop to do it, they do it all the time when fitting new doors... Pete

Its the membrane behind the door card that is the cause, if you look closely when it's been raining you will more than likely see a trickle of water coming from the door card.... Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....

Thanks chaps. I'll take a look at the door card and shredder.

You will have the later water shedder, it's more likely to be the problem mentioned above...

Worth a look at it first though... get the hose on the bottom edge of the window for 5 mins and see if the door gap fills up, if it doesn't get the hose along the door/roof seam and see if it fills up.... Thumbs Up Pete
