Many thanks Stan, I'm running at just under 700 so all ok must be me getting twitchy for the 350 mile journey on Saturday morning.feel happy now.

It's not adjustable by anyone, it's set by the engine ECU, if it's wrong there is a fault... Pete

You don't really want it to go lower. Each pulse of a cylinder igniting even at idle creates a large pulse of torque down through the engine, (cause the crank will have lost rotation speed between pulses) making it twist and shake. So it will try to twist on its mounts and then return to original position on each pulse. Lowering idle speed to allowing that would vastly increase the vibration.
