Any more update or luck in spotting this leak, I have tried lots of different things and im still no closer to finding out...

Still no luck - That LHS corner is soaking again tonight.........just cant seem to find it.

yeah mines is much the same. i went out today just praying it was dry..

checked: the towel was soaking wet. i was so sick of it i just left it there. how is your back order on the seal ?

The seal is due in around the 12th so I'll see how that goes.

I'm tempted the take the rear bumper off and seal the area around the 8 bolts / nuts as I think that may be the culprit.

I had the same water ingress problem. Land Rover are very aware of the issue however they are not doing anything about this. This should be recalled as its a known issue and happening to many vehicles. i spent over £1000 to get this fixed and replace all the audio / nav / amp equipment. My problem has now been resolved as they spent days stripping down the rear boot are near the quarter light. They added a water shedder that didn't helps things, then they removed the insulation sprayed the whole are with powder and let it sit outside for a bit. The tracked the water droplets and channel and found the leaking area. In my case this was the external D pillar I believe there are some rubber grommets below that. They siliconed up those areas and any gaps and that seems to have solved the problem (gingers crossed). I still leave a couple of packets of silica gel packets to absorb the moisture (if there is any). If you are getting any water or damp insulation around that boot areaI would certainly suggest checking 1) D pillar grommet 2) drain channel 3) leaking rear wash wiper motor.

Thanks for your reply. Your information is very useful. The strange thing is is gc and my case is that the front, back seat foot wells, boot left and right compartments are bone dry. I double checked this again today and not even a hint of dampness or moisture.

The only place the rr is soaking wet is the wheel well in the boot. NO other area at all. We both done a tissue test and it seems to come out two holes in the left and right. You can see this in pictures in this same thread.

We cannot for the life of us find out how the water is getting in. In both our cases it happens with the rr is parked up. Not specific to driving only. On this basis I would assume it is getting in from a gap on the back area: tailgate etc. I don't know how the roof drains work but I just don't see how this would leak into the boot.

Any help or diagrams you have would be most helpful. I have a 2004. Colin has a 2006 however I am sure similar enough in design for any information to be helpful.

Not sure if it's a help but when I park my car over night and it's rained, when I open the upper tailgate in the morning the water runs down the channels either side of the gas struts, down the sides of the lower tale gate and runs out under the car behind the bumper, right by where you guys have the problem. Now I don't know where the water is getting stored on mine, but I don't have any leaks (touch wood) so could be something to do with these channels on yours. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

If something can't be fixed with a hammer....... You have yourself an electrical fault!

I am unfamiliar with the leak coming from those 2 bumper holes. However I did have a water ingress into the compressor area which also needed a new compressor! Perhaps you need to check your boot rubber seals all the way round and coat with silicone spray or "einszett gummy pflege" also you might want to check and tighten down the 2 rubber bungs either side of the tailgate this might tighten the seal and stop water coming in?

Yeah I noticed this too and thought that it might be the cause however the boot is long soaking wet before I lift the boot and the water has a chance to go down. I am just a bit lost as to what it could be.

I think I might, just might tighten up the bolts on the off chance it is that, I diddnt want to replace all the seals if it wasnt the issue. Like you it runed my EAS compressor, I will buy a new one however only when the leak is fixed. The compressor does work but its slower now causing it to throw a fault every now and then.

I think, just may, justtt mayybe, I might have found the issue. I have not fixed it yet however. I went out this morning dried up the whole boot and decided to water test it.

I firstly opened the upper tailgate and poured two jugs of water on each side where the water would usually drain down if you opened the upper tailgate; no sign at all of a single drop of water inside.

I then decided to to hose it all down, in the beginning i primarily focused on the upper tailgate area, checked again, no sign of water at all, i then hosed the bottom tailgate all allround mainly focusing on the side areas joining the rear lights. left the top tailgate open at times and guess what! water !! lol

now there wasnt tonnes of water (then again I only hosed it for 2 minutes or so and got 2 or 3 drops of water i think) but from what i seen and what it looks like, it appears its leaking from the 2 bolts on my drivers side!, it could see the area was getting wet but no idea how and then i seen a drop come off the bottom bolt. looking around the part of the bolt that meets the body panel it is wet right round. if I look on my passenger side, it is stone dry round the bolts, nothing there at all.

I dont know if this is clear however I will upload a picture soon to show you what i mean. Now the question is if this is the area of leak then now to resolve it, I dont think tightening it any further will help as it seemed quite tight to me, maybe a washer or the other end of the bolt is the problem. I will need to read into the contruction of this part of the RR.

if anyone else has had this problem or can advise, it would be great.

Do you mean the nuts that hold the rear bumper on ??

Mine was wet again this morning - tissue was soaking but it's the LHS that is leaking on mine - not the RHS.......

I'm going to have to take the bumper off and check the seal around the armature brackets - I really think thats the cause - sounds like we have exactly the same problem, I'm just thankful that the satnav area is bone dry !!

Just a thought.
Have you considered undoing the bumper bolt nuts on the inside one at a time, putting a bead of liquid silicone gasket around each bolt hole and washer and putting the nuts and washers back in place.
Also a smear of silicone under the nut head.
This would certainly stop the water coming in round the bolts.
Assuming you can get the nuts off without needing to get access to the bolt heads.

might be a good idea, I thought of something similar but I was actually going to use an added extra rubber washer. not sure if the bolt heads would move, do you know if you can access them without having to take the bumper off ?
