Promised I'd report back a week on.

Same pattern of driving as the week before, with a couple of additional short runs into town
Distance 254 miles
Ave Speed 36.7 mph
Ave mpg 24.3

So sadly, for me (I only removed the vacuum hose and cleaned out the EGR), no improvement in mpg, and can't say I perceive any improvement in smoothness or performance from the engine. I'll put the vacuum pipe back on and save myself £40 on an EGR blanking kit Wink .

Have had my EGR kit ( Allisport) on for about a week now. Engine seems to run smoother but only a slight improvment in fuel consumption.
Before 11-11.2L / 100 km After 10.8 - 11L / 100 km which for you guys on that side of the pond is about .5 mpg better
Well it was worth a try anyway. But then we are limited to 60mph [ 100 km open road ] otherwise we are classed as a HOON and have our cars taken of us for doing 20mph [ 30 km ] over speed limit. Impounded for 30 days

i've only done town driving in the last 2 weeks and the readout says 22mpg which is 2/3mpg more than before...

when i just blanked off the vacuum pipe the mpg went up by 2/3mpg but soon settled down to normal..when the egr blanking unit was fitted the mpg went up by 3/4mpg but has now settled to a 2/3mpg increase..my conclusion is that this method does work and whether its in my mind or not ,i feel the range does drive more smoothly .. ... - .- -.

Well a bit better this week: 25.4 mpg, up from 24.5/24.3, same journeys, but have been a little bit more "assertive" with the driving, actually took it past 3000 rpm twice! Is the car doing some learning on me? not refitted the hose yet. .

Well things are a lot better now. Current average is 10.2 l/ 100 km ( ~27.7 mpg) from ~ 11.1 l / 100 km ( ~25.4 mpg) All figures from factory trip computer but then its all relative. So a nice little improvement. Was it worth it YES

When I bought my FFRR last year I had it connected to a computer and was told there was an EGR fault. I removed the EGR and manifold and cleaned it all out, it actually wasn't as bad as I expected. A few weeks ago when I fitted the new idler pulleys I removed the hose to the EGR and it is all still nice and clean, obviously my EGR is jammed shut and not allowing anything to get through Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Fitted mine on Saturday and on the drive to work this morning I saw an improvement to 29.4 mpg on the 21 mile run
Previously it showed 26.3 on the same journey last week

cheers gary,
just reread the thread and will get it done at same time as service. saves me hitting it with the
hammer and then taking it to the garage as is my usual mechanical expertise.

Reattached my vacuum hose today after several weeks of not seeing any real difference in performance, smoothness or mpg (24.5) will see if it goes down now Smile .

Definitely worth fitting if you ask me
I'm getting an average 26.6 mpg for the last couple of tanks compared to 22-24 previously
