Just try blanking the vacuum hose to start with, it'll cost you next to nothing in time and money, if you see some results, maybe the EGR blanking kit may improve it further if it's not closing properly. Nothing to loose but some time. and an M4 screw

blanking the vacuum pipe is a good idea and if the egr valve is in the open position you should get some improvement...
looking at the inside of the egr valve there is some air flow restriction and fitting the bypass kit can only increase that air flow so benefiting the smoother running of the engine..

The only reason I've not fitted the blanking kit is it's still under warranty, after that it'll be changed.
Unless I've won the lottery before it expires.....

The blanking kit blocks the exhaust gases, removing the vacuum pipe means the EGR valve cannot open to allow the exhuast gases through, so the only air flowing is up from the intercooler. That's what you mean, init?  .

Excellent write up with good graphic support.
Good to see somebody else thinks buying an "egr byepass kit" is an un-necessary expense. Leaves the car as built so that when you come to sell you can simply refit the vacuum hose and the car is then as original.

I've just done a week of normal driving, distance of 220 miles, average speed 38 mph, average mpg 24.5 (computer), 22 mile runs of country, motorway and urban traffic. Will report back next week on mpg and performance following the same pattern of driving. Should give a good indication of any changes / improvements.  .
