Do these plates completly block off the EGR, or just restrict it, i.e. do they have a little hole in? __________________

The plate blocks the exhaust gas flow completely, no hole. |

if you do use the blanking kit then you could always sell the egr valve on ebay, thats if you dont want to put your fullfat back as stock.. |

Well, have run with the vacuum pipe disconnected for a few weeks, with no discernable difference in performance / behaviour or mpg. So I have put it back on for now, and await a dry day to take the EGR valve off and have a look. .

i'm wondering what the vacuum pipe actually does ..does it keep the valve open or closed? |

It adjusts the valve according to throttle position and load on the engine. |

so if its disconnected ,will the pressure of the exhaust force open the valve.. |

The egr valve is a spring loaded valve that is normally closed to the exhaust inlet pipe. Application of vacuum opens the valve against the spring pressure.

The pipe needs to be sealed off so that the ECU does not throw up fault codes |
