My wife's Range has a similar problem, it's a 2015 Sport.

The front left seat heat and cooling doesn't work, so I swapped the modules over and proved that they both work in the good seat. I then swapped both seat back blowers over. The one that didn't work does work in the good seat, plenty of heat, but not in the non working one. I then checked continuity between the module pins and the connector to the seat back blower/peltier and all seemed OK.
There is power to the module, 2 wires are live.

So, would a faulty base blower cause this? I'm a bit baffled to be honest.

I've ordered a Gap IID3 and will see what that finds. I did try my SDD V165 but found nothing useful, whereas my Autel said it was the seat module, but, the module works in the other seat just fine.

Any thoughts on this at all please.

Many thanks. Les.

Hi,

As per my understanding both the back and the base units have to be working. At least that was on mine with similar symptoms.

I replaced the peltier in both backs, on the driver's base the plug was off, some previous neanderthal fault diagnosis I suppose.

All good now, those Ali express peltiers still going strong, best £50 spent, happy winter motoring Bow down Bow down

I'm tempted to swap the base units over just to see if it solves the problem, it's apparently not as easy to remove the base unit from what I've read. Maybe I could wire some leads across from the good seat to the suspect blower. Actually, thinking logically, that won 't work. I'll see what the Gap IID says next week.

Drivers Heated Seat 2012 Westminster (so heated and cooled)

Late last year I took the back off the drivers seat. Found the ducting was bust. Repaired this using fabric tape and insulation tape - long and short, it is air tight. I managed to get it working no problem until I reassembled the seat. It would come on for about 5 seconds and then cut out. Turn car off/ back on, same again.
So I assumed that there was fault code logged. Today I finally had the fault code cleared. Worked for 5 seconds then stopped just like before. I have no idea if it has now logged a new fault code.
This afternoon I took the seat apart again, I had intended to swap the drivers and passengers heat/cool unit. However in the process of removing the driver’s unit I snapped a cable tight in the connector block. I have now soldered a cable bypassing the connection block (this works). I chose not to install the drivers one on on the passenger side as was concerned this would cause a new fault code and have not cut the cables of the fully working passenger unit to test on the drivers side…. Whilst I did not achieve what I wanted to in this exercise (swap the two units), I did make some progress…

After fixing the cable I snapped, I installed the driver’s unit in the driver’s seat and left it hanging for a while, ran it for 5 minutes, switching between hot and cold, no issue. I then clipped it back into the seat, still working. The only things I have not done is screw it in, put the ducting over the fan filter or reassemble the seat back. I ran some errands, car on and off a few times, heated seat working no trouble….

I plan to run it for a few days without the seat reassembled, and then I will put it back together slowly testing each restriction to air flow and see if this changes anything.

I wonder if anyone has any comments/ thought/ knowledge of this...

I have lost heating on my drivers seat ( RHD ) and backrest, cooling works OK

Plugged my IID in and get this DCSM fault code U0140-00 (2F) Lost communication with BCM

Will get my MM out tomorrow - thanks Gary

I've had these in my seat backs for quite a while now, must be 6 months.

No issues whatsoever, well worth the spend, I have them on all the time.

I bought 2 spares at the same time, so far still in their boxes. No doubt I'll need them in the future, but spending £300+ for the real thing if I have to replace them 5 times I'm still quids in.

good to know Andy, many thanks for the review

saw this which gave me confidence in tackling it myself, but I did not have any cracks, and my IID error message it not one that anyone has seen before, so after using my MM, I figured it was the Peltier
