Jump starting a 3.6 (New issue !)

Fellow masochists, I need some help. I have a NOCO booster and it has never let me down until now, TD6 no problem, L322 4.4 no problem, L405 4.4 no problem, L322 3.6 no worky, I am at my wits end, the RAC man starts it OK, what am I doing wrong, have tried it direct to battery, used the earth point etc, why did they change the live points (unless I am missing something), I can get no power to the car, HELP Big Cry 2013 L405 Autobiography Baltic Blue

If the battery is totaly dead / flat these booster packs won't work. The breakdown operator will have a much higher capacity booster pack. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

If it’s a completely flat battery you have to press the override button.

Only just got mine so literally just read the instructions for it. They time out after 60 secs and if the voltage is less than 3V you need to use the override function. 👍🏻 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

There's a sticker under the bonnet that says when jumping to switch the ignition on and wait 120 seconds before cranking. I wonder if that's to let the voltage and stuff stabilise when the initial load comes on. I've never had any issues doing it that way.

So strange you mention this because I have the same issue with my 3.6! Bloody NOCO starter won’t help mine when it’s dead either!! 2007 Range Rover Vogue 3.6 TDV8

As the yanks say there's no replacement for displament and the same holds true for battery packs.

Not a Land Rover but a mate had a dumper die on him at my place. He had several big jump packs (bearing in mind most of his vehicles are 4l+ Perkins lumps or 6l+ Cummins engines and nothing would touch it. Brought my JCB up and big jump leads (70mm2 welding cable) and with the JCB running at operating revs, circa 2200rpm (beauty of a hand throttle) the dumper fired straight up.

I've also got a NOCO and used the override but if the engine is a bit tighter or there's more electrical load in the 3.6 then it's still a small battery pack. The NOCO 150 is 88Wh, by comparison a relatively small lead acid battery is 1.2kWh. To put it in comparison if a starter motor pulls 100A then that's a 1.2kW load. It will kill an 88Wh battery in 4 minutes and Lithium won't be allowed to discharge that much. The 3.6TDV8 starter is rated at 2.7kW so half that. You might think that a couple of minutes cranking would be enough but the internal protection in the battery pack won't allow it to deliver that as it'll cause it to overheat, overdischarge or a combination. Ed

Which NOCO pack was it ?
I've got a GB75 & it started 6 cars one cold day last year including my 3.6TDv8 3 times - all without a re-charge.
Critical is the waiting time after connection & before trying to start the poorly car.
Early on I noticed it wouldn't start my 3.6 IF I was impatient & tried to start it immediately.

Did you get the NOCO to start it in the end or sort ou what the problem was ? Paul,
