Definitely don't use them then! Generally speaking, the quality of the transmissions and fluid produced by ZF and Mercedes are extremely high, that they could even go 150,000+ miles before requiring a service. Land Rover claim on the L322 that the 8 speed ZF box is "sealed for life" - interesting to see that isn't printed for the L405. However, transmission servicing is relatively inexpensive and like engine servicing, key to a long life of the transmission. Everyone has their preferences, however every 75k / 10 years whichever comes sooner should be ample on a ZF transmission. Personally, I just do the change at 100,000. It is a messy job but can be done in 2-3 hours at home. Other automatics such as Fords and DSG boxes need their transmission servicing done like clockwork every 2-3 years/40,000 miles, as dirty and degraded fluid causes clunky changes. Mannol AG60 is a great fluid to use, but if you keep your eye out online, you can often get the full genuine ZF service kit for sub-£200. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8 |

I have mine booked in at my local indie in the next couple of weeks, I do it every 2 years ( this time the mileage I have done in those two years is only 25,000 ) , but am still happy to get it done, he told me to buy direct online the genuine ZF Filtran sump from Talexin for only £86 (includes vat and free delivery)

I downloaded the service sheets and every 3 years the transmission fluid must be changed.
